Recently I had gone to my first ever Pakistan tour and it was a great journey. We visited a lot of places and along with visiting the ancient places of Lahore, I personally had the desire right inside my heart that I would visit the Gurudwara once, since I had not visited any other in my life ever.

Like everyday, we friends got dressed and went out for our mission to capture locations which we had not visited earlier. We reached the Gurudwara at around 10:00am in the morning and as it was surrounded by many people trying to enter but were stopped on the gate by some guards who asked for identity cards so that only Hindus could enter the Holy Place. As I had my ID card, they let me go without a question but did not let my friends come in as they were all Muslims.

I went inside alone with my kerchief on my head covering it as told by my parents to do so. It was a huge temple and I had been inside a Gurudwara for the first time and seemed lost, as where to go next and what to do. I went to the place where the Holy Book – Granth Sahab had been kept covered with silk and embroided cloth pieces which shined and showed clearly that this was the Book written by Guru Nanik.

I kneeled on the floor then bowed and touched my forehead right on the floor as the sign of worship which I had usually seen in Indian Movies (Bollywood). Then the person who is the caretaker is usually termed as the “Babaji” who is responsible for doing the prayers everyday in the Gurudwara and arranging special prayer arrangements for people like me who hardly visit the place or come from far away places.

I asked him that could he arrange for me a special prayer so that when I go abroad for my studies, I would be guided by the Lord’s blessings and he did it for me. I put some money in the charity box after the prayers and clicked some pictures and then finally went my way.

Although it was a huge place, and I wanted to roam around it for some while but then i had to leave early as my friends had been waiting outside just for me to come back. So I quickly ran out of the main door of the Gurudwara and continued the rest of the journey with my friends.
