http://www.animalshelter.org/ is a great site that you can visit to look up a shelter near your home.  You wouldn't believe how many homeless dogs and cats there are in the world.  All of them needing homes.

If you are an animal lover like myself (I presently have 3 dogs and 2 cats), you can relate to my saying, "I wish I could adopt them all".  Unfortunately, with finances and the lack of room, I can only help promote the viewing of shelters or visiting them in person.

The pictures shown are dogs and cats at shelters in Michigan.  Most animals are already vaccinated and spayed/neutered.  There are puppies, kittens and also pets that have already been in a home but for some reason or another, was given up.

If you don't want to commit to owning an animal for life but enjoy the company of the furry little beasts, then consider becoming a foster parent.  Information for doing this is listed with each specific shelter you click on.

With summer half-way through already and the shelters loading up with animals, they are in desperate need of adoptees and foster homes.

Nothing is more rewarding than coming home to my pets who are estastic to see me.  They love me no matter what and are always willing to give me kisses or cuddle next to me, what ever the time of day.  My children are better people as well because of learning how to love and care for their pets.  Our pets are part of our family.  Please consider making an orphaned animal part of yours.

P.S. I love just going through the site to view the cute pictures of the animals.  There are so many adorable pets out there.
