The Fine Print

The Fine print of the Terms of Service is something many of don't every read. We just click yes and continue. But what exactly is in the Terms of Service for Vonage? You may be shocked to see what you agreed to.

Money Back Guarantee:

There is a 30 day money back guarantee BUT - you can not exceed 500 minutes of usage, Also your 30 days start from the day you sign up. This is often a week or so BEFORE you get your equipment. If you got a rebate on the equipment (free equipment) you will be charged the price of the equipment till they recieve it. YOU will pay postage to send the stuff back. Once they recieve your equipment, they will then issue you a refund after 30 days .

No Operator. Collect Calls, Or 411 calls:

You can not call the operator, accept collect calls or be able to call information from the vonage phone.

Your phone number will not be listed in the phone book.

You Vonage may not work with Home security Systems, Medical monitoring and Tivo.

You Vonage will probably not work with Satellite Internet, Wireless Internet, and will not work with Dial Up.

If you cancel your service Before your term is over - usually a 2 year agreement you will be charged to cancel. Right now the fee is $39.99 per line. This does include fax lines also.

Once you disconnect the service, you will be billed at that time for any fees they can charge you for. This will be placed on your credit card.

You usually have a 1 year warranty on the equipment. After that if the equipment goes bad and you need new equipment. YOU Will have to pay for it. If you are within the 1 year warranty on the equipment, they will replace it. But YOU pay shipping to return the bad equipment to them.

If you call internationally, and your bill goes over $75 a month, as soon as your bill hits $75 it will be charged to your credit card. This can happen in the middle of the billing cycle.

If you prepay for a year, and you cancel prior to the end of that year, you probably won't get a refund.

If there is an interruption of service they will not pay for you time that your sevice isn't working.

If for some reason you and Vonage end up in court, you will not be able to have a jury trial.

So if you cancel you will be charged, if service doesn't work, even if it's an outage from Vonage you will not be credited.

Before siging up for Vonage or anyother phone company, take a few minutes to read the TOS. IT may save you money.
