Comments On Excerpts From The Histrocal Collector's Edition Obama

Today I was shopping and came across this magazine. Lately I been wanting to write about communication, the lost art, but I was drawing a blank writer's block I guess. I've been spending most of my time blogging about Obama's stance on the drug war;they are planning to end the war. With the platform Obama presented when running for office, I did not expect this position on this critical issue.

A statement on an excerpt, "The call to serve", our Nation's story begins with a call to volunteer. As the beneficiaries of this legacy, we possess an obligation to volunteer and serve our fellow citizens with similar selfishness and optimism.

How could the man who pulled on our nation's beginning and the sense of duty to carry out the same obligation take a stance that would doom a certain group of our nation to the doom of an endless hell; that's what will happen if we abandon the fight to end drug use in our great nation.

Oprah Winfrey made this statement in the push to win support for Obama: "This is not a time for any of us to shrink away from a new bold path for our country." I hear these words and I see those who promised to blaze a new trail, willing to sacrifice some to keep their throne. It seems that the highest office and our land has become a trophy.

"I believe in hope, but I also believe in action." Another quote made by Mr. Obama. To that I say, this action is what recovery is about. Those of us from this side of the track have rebuilt our lives thru action and we wish for a shift in the drug war one from locked up abuser and one that would educate our young as a means of prevention. The action that would turn the tide in drug use in America needs a little hope that it will be given the chance to produce the change that has been spoken of.

The promise "Tonight I want every American to know this:We will rebuild,we will recover, and the United States of America will emerge stronger than before." Mr. Obama the American in the ghetto, suburbs, rural and metropolitan areas heard you and we all cheered on that night and you became the messenger of hope against all hope.

Mr. Obama people voted for the first time in their life. It was as if you were a horse that had won the first two legs of the triple crown and the masses knew you would win the third leg and all picked you to win. We wanted the victory to be decisive and it was.

With victory in hand you promised a better America and an America we could all be proud of and an America where no one would be left behind and an America where we would all strive for the good of the other. You have been swift and decisive on getting America back on its feet and for that we applaud you. "I didn't come to Washington to take the easy route,or to work for the powerful and the well connected interests who have run this city too long.I came here to work for the American people. I came here to deliver the sweeping change that they demanded when they went to the polls in November."

Mr. Obama, the lines were long and it required a sacrifice to vote for change a sacrifice we gladly made. .You have seen the need for our military to be victorious for that we say thank you, because you had the courage too look at reason and adjust.

"I didn't come to Washington to take the easy route we,heard the rally cry.The call to duty to exercise our right to vote for change, please remember all who voted and cheered and held their heads high and found a new faith in our system. We voted and honor was restored we realize that we could make a difference.

All the cheering is over you have gotten down to business you have shown to be one to keep your word you pushed hard and for that we thank you.But Mr. Obama I would petition you to rethink the stance of your cabinet on the drug war.America will lose if the effort is abandon at this point our inner city will become battlefields for turf.Inner city kids will lose sight of America and the real dream, more families will be torn apart, some schools would become crack schools.More children will be born addicted and put a burden on health care. This Issue will cost America more than is realized and will doom the next generation if left unchecked. Some studies say if we shift from enforcement only and approach this matter on three fronts, education for the very young, prevention for the youth and would be dealers, and rehabilitation for the addict we could save seven dollars for every one dollar we now spend.

Mr. Obama the above mentioned plan sounds like the one you would come up with I ask you to look how quick the Republican said ok let's begin cutting, that alone should say this is wrong for America, they had the White House and ruled government for eight years never did they pass a budget that call for cuts on the drug war.Neither should you. Change fronts we must with the same rigor that's being applied to bringing about change on other issues.

In closing I would like to say that America can and will recover and will be a better place lets try our best to leave no citizen behind. This magazine really help me focus on this hub I hope its a good read.

We do need to serve with selflessness and optimism. Too much too do and more than enough people to pitch in. Thank you William.. I'm already volunteering and will continue to do so!
