WEALTH RE-DISTRIBUTION FOR AFRICA

Wealth distribution

What is wealth all about if it cannot alleviate the poverty and put an end to the suffering of fellow human beings? My respect for Bill Gates grew by leaps and bounds when he marshalled his stupendous wealth and personality into the quest for reducing the plight of the worlds poor.

Africa is being ravaged by war, disease, poverty, famine etc yet a few wealthy people are comfortable amassing unbelievable wealth that cannot be exhausted in two lifetimes. Despite spurious and serious attempts by world leaders to bring global attention to the debilitating scourge that has engulfed the African continent, the effects of which can be very far reaching, it is sad that both wealthy nations as well as individuals remain unperturbed.

It must be stated that the continous influx of illegal African immigrants into Europe and the Americas will not end unless and untill the African quest for the basics of life are met. The rich nations and peoples of Europe and America will find the economic strain of immigrants continuously and increasingly difficult to bear if they do not bring their wealth to bear on the African crisis.

Nature has a way of balancing itself. African Illegal Immigrants will continue to travel to foreign lands in search of jobs until they are able to get equivalent offers in their home countries.Until that happens, rich nations and people will continue to feel an imbalance in their economies and national security. The threat may be subtle today but it seems to be gathering momentum as the months roll by. The United Kingdom only last week disclosed how by oversight the population of immigrants was underestimated by 300,000 in just one year!

When a people discover that their collective wealth and resources was pillaged and plundered by other races with the connivance of indigenous leaders in historical times and most of their national wealth has been siphoned to European economies to further help in the creation of wealthy European citizens...they shall come calling in the face of starvation.

To stem this tide, wealth distribution by nations and individuals become inevitable.

'In the affairs of men as well as nations, there are inexorable tides from which they cannot remain aloof, if they do they, will be caught unawares'. Annon

One of the saddest parts of this is that so many people are profiting by the selling of arms to the warring nations. It's sad when people get rich on other people's misery. If everyone would refuse to sell them arms, eventually, the wars would have to end.

Thanks. I agree with you but it also goes beyond arms deal. The wars will end someday..what about disease and famine? The people would have vanished!

Nice hub. I dont think its quite as simple as just throwing Africa a bucket full of money, however, unless your idea has Africa being supported by the rest of world for the rest of eternity. Africa needs to be self-supporting, and that would really be quite a task.

These things aside - African warlords are Africa's number one enemy. No matter who is supporting them, there will always be a new mass murderer ready to take their place. This is the cause of poverty, famine and disease in many parts of Africa.

And giving money translates into a fat donation to them specifically.

How do you propose that kind of thing is fixed?

Who sells the arms to the African warlords? Who incites the African people against one another? Africa is blesseed with rich and highly arable land for agriculture and mineral resources. Instead of arms, mechanised forms of agriculture and mining equipments will do.

Who cares who sells the arms? If its not one country, its another. Im still waiting for your solution. You want money sent to Africa - thats not a solution, sorry. Money only goes as far as warlords allow it. If warlords are allowed to own countries and kill their own people, thats an internal issue that money isnt going to fix. Money will just make them richer.

Or do you really think the warlords will be like Santa Claus and go pass it out to the people?

Isabella, you seem to forget that the so-called warlords do not operate in isolation as they have financial backers from Europe and the Americas who are interested in the resources of these African countries. In simple terms they get stooges and finance their armed rebellion sometimes against democratically elected govts.just to access these resources. We are not talking about just pumping in money-nobody mentioned that. What should be done is ensuring political stability. You want to wonder what took America to Iraq in the first place? Was'nt Iraqs problem internal?

Oil took the US to Iraq - and an oil pipeline that stalled in construction during the first Bush's presidency. Iran's been having internal problems for years - some of them ask for help, but if they got it, they'd be in the same situation the Iraqis are in. It would be civil war with lots of Americans standing around getting shot. Iran is better off as it is right now, until someone has an intelligent way to resolve it.

Taking leaders out is easy. Establishing freedom is easy. Maintaining it is impossible when you have a country - or continent - of people who cant get along with each other.

Africa has the added bonus of the tendency toward genocide by ITS OWN PEOPLE. Thats a little scary, don't you think? And if one warlord stops being financed, another will take his place. If one is killed another will coup somewhere else. Its a neverending circle at the moment.

Sending machinery is not going to help - thats just sending money because the end results are the same. Warlords would force people to farm, and then sell everything for prices no one can pay. Or did you really think it would be a big hippie commune afterward?

And if you sent the machines to somewhere a real democracy exists, great for them - just as bad for the countries that have been screwed all along. People need to rise up and fight for themselves - hard to do when you have 1 arm, no arms and no parents. its a sad situation, but it remains a sad situation because there is NO SIMPLE ANSWER.

And, btw, Im Iranian. I would love to see the country liberated, as I would like to visit in my lifetime. And I know the horrible things that go on. But there is no simple fix. There is too much fear in the people, so revolts are only half-strength. And if the US went in, it would be worse in a few months time.

There isnt a good solution for Africa, and may not be one in this lifetime. The only realistic solution is allowing them to emigrate to better conditions. Sad but true.

You have hit the point hard soyelude-there are cleavages of wealth in Africa that are so enormous that if judicially redistributed, would end poverty in many of the Banana Republics that we have on the African continent. Come to think about it-in your country alone, When General Sanni Abach died(May His Soul Rest in Peace) He was sleeping on a pillow stuffed with about $250,000,000! This is not Naira or Uganda Shillings soyelude, it is Hard Cash American Dollars! Just imagine that a less corrupt God Father of Africa had emerged out of the blue and asked to redistribute this wealth to the poverty stricken people of the Niger Delta states or in the case of Uganda, to the war ravagged, diseased and poverty stricken people of Northern Uganda, wouldnt we see smiles of relief in the faces of these unfortunate Africans? The call for the redistribution of wealth is long over due in Africa, look at the Democratic Republic of the Congo This is the largest and perhaps the most endowed country in terms of resources, but go to Kivu, to Aruu and to Goma, you will find men holding power and influence the only few filthy rich in a sea of extremely poor people-remember Mubutu?-He was richer than the state as an individual but as we talk, his wealth was never redistributed!

When I indulge in discussions of this kind, I am usually passionately inclined to pour out my anger not so much on the Europeans, but on the African leaders who are deliberately giving poverty a blind eye. You cant tell me soyelude that this glaring poverty misses their comprehension-the truth is our leaders are fully aware, all they do is enrich themselves and keep pushing forward the conspiracy of silence and inaction to keep poverty entrenched, after all, a poor man is easy to subdue and to manipulate for political expedience! thanks a lot for this very emotive subject of wealth redistribution!
