WHAT JESUS DID WHEN HE WAS YOUNG

We have only limited information about Jesus’ life especially the time when he was very young. Many unbiblical stories came out to glorify our Master but they may be not exact and may conflict with the teaching of the Word.

We may often get into a trap if we place our opinion on the Word. Our opinion must be in line with His Word. Otherwise we create religion.

As we know Jesus is the Logos, the Word of God in the flesh.

Entire Bible reflects the will of the Father.

God gave me special love for His Word. My desire is to communicate clearly to people who will read.

Jesus was born as another true prophet in the Holy Land territory, and never traveled outside the country. He said He came to the lost sheep of Israel.

He became as an ordinary man as any other, but without sin. He called Himself the Son of Adam (Ben Adam) and not the Son of God. This was for purposes. Universal justice demanded that He match Satan as a man and not as the Son of God.

Jesus loves the scripture; He studied it diligently. Not only that but John called Him the Logos, the Word in flesh.

Jesus at age twelve memorized the Torah. It was a custom in Israel. At the age of 27 most of the young men memorized the entire Tanakh. One reason for this was in case of a disaster (fire or flood or other damage), they could restore lost of the scrolls exactly. God protected His Word well.

Jesus was hidden into a large family to avoid premature discovery by Satan. Jesus needed to prepare Himself in peace for His ministry. Having only one child in the family it would be very suspicious to people and to Satan. Jesus had four half brothers and at least two half sisters. There were at least seven children in the family. All of them were children of Mary and Joseph and there were at least nine members of family.

Some writings of Josephus indicate that the rabbi of the Synagogue in Nazareth believed that Jesus was the Messiah. Jesus spent a lot of time studying the Scripture. The Bible was not available at home, only in the synagogue. He kept Himself busy and worked with Joseph in the carpenter’s shop. In His spare time He prepared Himself for ministry learning the Scripture.

According to the record of James who lived with Jesus, Jesus was a man of the word. In the Cana wedding Mary said: “Whatsoever He says unto you, do it.” She knew that whatever He says He was able to perform.

At the age of twelve He amazed the teachers in temple with His memorization and understanding of Scriptures.

When He went into the desert, He fasted and repeated the Word of God aloud *) to gain faith that He needed later to heal the sick and perform the miracles He did. For all men the same rules apply. He had to be a man who was born through the birth canal. Later He said: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that enter not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber (John 10:1). Allegorically, He referred to the door as a birth canal and sheepfold as this earth. Any other spirits like angels, devil… not born here have no authority on the earth like we have.

Jesus never performed any miracles before He was anointed to His ministry. Holy Spirit descended on Him when John baptized and anointed Him. All heard the voice from heaven: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, this is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Mat. 3:17).

I am always questioning any extra-biblical sources, which does not match the Bible. This is why we need to know the Bible and understand it. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all the truth. I have confidence in the Bible since it never failed and disappointed me. The book says what it had to say. What the Bible says it is. In there is all we need to know for a victorious life.

"Jesus was born as another true prophet in the Holy Land territory, and never traveled outside the country. He said He came to the lost sheep of Israel."

How do you know that He never travelled outside His own country?

Where were the lost ten tribes living for He came for their benefit first and foremost.

Matt 10:5-6 (KJV) Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

The House of Israel was the Northern Kingdom of Israel not the House of Judah in the south around Jerusalem.

The ten tribes were taken captive in 725 BC and dispersed throughout the middle east as far east as Scythia and Persia. Then called the lands of the Medes and Parthians. They also travelled west with the Assyrians (Germans) into Europe and the British Isles and in particular Ireland.

This is where The Lord travelled and he was a stranger in His own village when He returned to start His Judean ministry.

Hence they were asking these questions:

Matt 13:55 (KJV) Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

Had he lived all his life there they would have known immediately who He was.

You are right completely. Under Israel cover Judah too. You are right also about he was not all the time in Nazareth during His ministry. What I should clarify is He did not travel to India and learn form India philosophy and religion as some claim. That was my point. Jesus lived a lot time in Capernaumm, which is Galilee and traveled within the Holy Land. Thanks for good point.

Besides when someone has to work, study and memorize scripture it need a lot time. I have an idea since I study a lot in my life.

Thanks for coming back. The Apostle Thomas went to India I believe.

It's late here so I will post again tomorrow about philosophy and the harm it has done to The Church.

I did not know about Thomas. But after resurrection Lord said, go everywhere and preach good news to the end of the world.

When I traveled to Jordan I discussed many things with professor of Arabic history. He was not Christian but interestingly he pointed to me that his prophet only one was not born in the Holy Land but... You know what I was thinking. :).

Hey Vlad, did I understand you right when you said Jesus was just the Son of Man? Maybe I misunderstood you. He was also the God the Son too, wasn't he? Love ya

Absolutely! He was both. The legal purpose was He called Himself specifically Be Adam. But He never objected when someone else called Him Son of God. He agreed.

Thanks for good point.

In my theology class, my professor called this the "hypostatic union." Jesus was all man and yet God in human flesh so that He was all God too. Truly a mystery that I know I'll never understand but hope to get a little more explanation when I see Him.

This is very interesting. Thank you very much for sharing this. I keep hearing that spirits or ghosts are "evil". I've had many experiences with ghosts and in fact, moreso since I've begun my relationship with God. This is an awesome article but I know nothing about the bible. Thanks for clearing some things up for me. I've written some hubs on religion myself, it's a difficult subject. You did a wonderful job on this hub.

MissJamieD, thank for stopping by. Thank you for comment. The Bible is not difficult at all as appears. I think only sorting it up may be a problem on the beginning. To me the Bible is most reliable and fascinating Book I ever read. I would like to help if needed.

Thanks again. Please visit my hubs.

Joseph Miyombo, thanks you for visit.

Very good comment. Jesus never performed miracle before He went to ministry, He was sent for. First miracle He perform was in Cana, please see my hub: MIRACLE IN CANA. People want to glorify Jesus without knowledge.

Without teaching Word people will doubt anyway and even might loose let say healing and loose even faith by reasoning. It is important to know purpose of miracles.

Thank you for reading and interest.
