A bit of history

After centuries of history bicycles has become one of the most used vehicles all around the world. When Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) delineated the first bicycle design he probably never had thought that after all this time people will be still riding wooden bikes. Well, in the name of true it was not Leonardo who made those rough drafts of what would be a bicycle, it was one of his students during the 1490´s. But those drafts only reach us because they were among other Leonardo´s works.

Only in 1817 a bicycle has been created, it was Baron Karl von Drais who made the first two wheels vehicle even though it did not had pedals yet. Mainly because of bad marketing this invention had little success back then.

In the 1820's there was a new and improved bicycle made nicknamed the Dandy Horse. One of the reasons this bicycle succeeded was that Denis Johnson, the maker of this bicycle, had much better marketing skills than Baron Karl von Drais.

Nowadays bicycles are made from different materials such as alloy, aluminum, carbon fiber, titanium and from whatever materials we may find in aerospace engineering. But those are not all the used materials, we also have bicycles made from wood and bamboo in the 21th century.
