Waiting for a Call
73Job Hunters who were promised a return call..
There are many college students who thought that after graduating, jobs are puoring on all sides waiting for somebody to come and snatch them up.. I have a very difficult experience regarding looking and applying for jobs. And basically it's a call center job which offers a big salary rate compared to others. Here in the Philippines, the call-center industry is booming so many undergraduate students and professionals alike have come to try their luck in this field. Well, I say, its not that easy as everyone thinks. Yes, it may be just about taking calls and addressing customer's concern but that is just the surface.
A Call Center Agent
Tips when applying in a call center
- first, Initial interview - the initial interview is basically used to measure the applicants proficiency in the English language. SPEAK IN ENGLISH. Applicants should also practice speaking English with an American or British Accent. It is a must becuase agents talk to customers from other countries and miscommunication is a big No!
- second, the written exam- the written exam depends a lot from the company and the type of products they are servicing. For example, if the company is offering technical support regarding networking devices or anti-viruses then basically the exam would be about computers. Practically, there may be a separation regarding the exams. First part may consist of the technical problems one might encounter in a computer which tests your capability and knowledge with computers. The second part may be of the customer service and the last of the English grammar.
- third, the final interview - this part generally tasks the inidviduals willingness to work in the company. Take note that most call centers are on graveyard shift.
Life in a Call Center
The training..
The training lasts for almost a month. In each week there will be assessment regarding you performance per week. It is still up to the company what will go first but this is essentially what comprises the training period; language training, Technical training; product training and lastly taking live calls. Taking live calls will let you experience how it is on the floor. You get to experience handling calls from irate customers and some dumb ones.
Money is oozing in this industry but frankly it is not a shopping avenue nor a place where you think you can relax. If this is the field for you might as well try your luck.
