Weakening the United States Image Encourages Our Enemies to Attack

Taxi cab driver in Egypt impressed by George Bush’ actions in Kuwait

In 1991, shortly after the United States drove Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait, I was in Egypt with my family hailing a taxi.  When the driver found out we were American, his huge grin showed stained uneven teeth.  The driver gave us a thumbs up.   “George Bush,” he said nodding his head in approval.  “King George?” he asked.   I shook my head, “no, president.”  As I sat down in the cab, I realized I didn’t even know the name of the president of his country, Egypt, yet he knew mine.  A common man using his broken down car as a taxi, knew who the president of the United States was.  At the time it was George Bush Senior, the strongest leader in the free world, the man who took on Saddam Hussein and won.  The taxi driver respected me and my family as Americans because our country showed strength in protecting the weak.

American’s strong hand keeps her citizens safe

Kuwait was one of those times in the past when the United States appeared strong and invincible to her enemies.  After 9/11, the war against terrorism has also shown the strength of America and prevented further attacks on American soil.  Most of the time since World War II, the United States of America has appeared strong and invincible to her enemies.  When politics tie the hands of American soldiers and prevent them from doing their duty, America loses face and her enemies see her as weak and vulnerable.  It is only when we appear as the strongest most respected country in the world that our citizens are the safest and our enemies will fear us and leave us alone.

Weakening of the United States government

When Bill Clinton took office in 1992, he did not lead the country with the same strength in regard to foreign policy as George Bush Senior.  The plans for the destruction of the TwinTowers in New York were laid during this time and executed in 2001.  If it had not been for the continual war against terror that George Bush junior has waged during his presidency, there would have been many other attacks on United States soil and against her citizens.

Since the Obama administration has taken over, Obama has shown weakness in his role as president.  He has apologized for the United States on many levels, bowed himself to leaders of other nations and recognized and dealt with terrorists as in the case of the President of North Korea.  His actions show America as fumbling, disorganized and vulnerable in the eyes of her enemies.

Incite from a diplomatic spouse

As a diplomatic spouse for over twenty years, I have lived overseas and measured U.S. value in the attitudes of the countries around me.  I have lived among the Muslim.  They respect and fear us for our strength, but despise us for our weakness.   Our enemies hate us enough to train their children to commit suicide in the hopes of killing a few of us.  We, as a nation, are putting ourselves in serious danger when we appear weak and sniveling to our enemies.  It is equivalent to begging for another terrorist attack.

Enemies Will Only Respect Strength

The Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder, is putting our nation at risk by going after the CIA.  It is the CIA’s job to protect the people of the United States from attack by gathering intelligence about our enemies.   The CIA is being undermined, exposed, demeaned and reprimanded.  Even though preliminary reports state that “doing their job” the CIA provided information that prevented attacks on Americans, the attorney General is still in pursuit.  The prestige of the CIA in the eyes of their informants and our enemies is being destroyed.  Obama’s regime is humanizing America to her enemies.  We are more vulnerable and becoming an easy target.

HID, High Value Interrogation of Detainees

The formation of a new department, HID, High Value Interrogation of Detainees, headed by President Obama’s office will only show our enemies that we are a confused, finger pointing people caught up in punitive actions against each other.  The vulnerability created by dismissing the CIA as incompetent could have deadly consequences.  In the disarray brought on by the creation of a new department that doesn’t even have a head, an attack from our enemies could go unnoticed and successfully be accomplished in the uproar.

A Strong Front prevents disaster

As a diplomatic spouse for more than twenty years, I have learned that you can’t win everyone over to your side.  The best way to deal with enemies who hate you is to appear strong and invincible; otherwise they will attack what they perceive as your vulnerability.  This is an obvious fact that not everyone sees.  Just as the taxi cab driver in Egypt knew George Bush Senior by name, we will be known and respected for our strength as Americans, but despised, hated and attacked without mercy by enemies that perceive us as weak.
