Walking in wildflower magic
66Every morning, the earlier the better, I am privileged to walk beside rainbow colored flowers. This year more than in the past, the cheerful, perky buds are neon- as if bursting with joy. Their happy nature inspires me to join in the celebration, even when I am feeling down.
My husband took most of these photos in what we call The Hundred Acre Wood, located two blocks from our home. We feel very fortunate that the economic downturn has discouraged building on this site for another couple years. If there can be good in this downturn, well, this is where I find it at present!

Well Moon Daisy, you are the perfect first read on this site! Thanks so much for honoring me with your visit and comment!!!
Nice. Thanks for the walk.
What a beautiful place, we had a couple of those around here and the owners sold the trees for timber. Now it is a very desolate dark place.

Wow, what amazing blues and yellows. I'm very jealous of your woodland. Thanks for spreading the love :)
Beautiful....thank you! :)
thanks everyone, for walking with me! it's fun to share.
i hope, fortunerep, this does not happen. we are expecting more homes to be built and the intention is to preserve the Ponderosa Pine, which might also mean many wildflowers, though they don't live beneath PP very well. we have lived in our home for 21 years and shared the gift of this space with our children, family and friends.
it takes a long time for wildflowers to appear and flourish. when homes are built and the earth is torn apart, where do wildflowers go? do they simply disappear? or do they find "home" elsewhere? if i had the money, i'd buy the Wood and leave it be!
You are really very lucky to be living where you are. And you've said it so well: Even the pictures are like gifts to the soul. I can only imagine how much nicer it must be to actually walk out amongst them in the clean, crisp and nippy early morning air, with dew still on the grass, some birds flitting about in the air, and to breathe in the rich aroma of the flowers, the pines and the undergrowth.
It might be worth trying - especially at this time when realty has lost so much value - to petition the authorities as a community, offering to buy, mortgage or take on long lease a big section of the woods. Your local councillor or senator of the area might be able to help the community, especially if it undertakes not to develop the place and to preserve the natural flora.
Gorgeous pictures and inspiring narrative. Thank you so much for sharing.
Beautiful! Enjoy while you have it...
Jaspal, you say you are not the writer but in this brief comment it becomes obvious you are most definitely a poet. Thank you so much.
I would like to consider your second paragraph and its challenge. Perhaps this is something to pursue in this moment. Thank you for reminding me of the possibility. A corporation owns the acreage and the cost is a bit prohibitive. Our neighborhood organized to reduce the count of homes going in there and to save the trees, which was a successful effort. This might be a good time to revisit the entire issue, with companies struggling even as the middle class loses ground. I will meditate on it :).
Sally's Trove and GiftedGrandma, nice to walk with you this morning. Thanks for joining me.
Lovely hub thoroughly enjoyable...
Great shots, thanks for the walk.
Brenda and Bob, I appreciate your visits. Did you get a change to meet along the pathway? :) You both have lovely profiles.

Lovely photos, and I like the way that you've talked about the the effect each colour has on our lives and the chakras related to each colour. Inspirational!
