Walking in wildflower magic

Every morning, the earlier the better, I am privileged to walk beside rainbow colored flowers. This year more than in the past, the cheerful, perky buds are neon- as if bursting with joy. Their happy nature inspires me to join in the celebration, even when I am feeling down.

My husband took most of these photos in what we call The Hundred Acre Wood, located two blocks from our home.  We feel very fortunate that the economic downturn has discouraged building on this site for another couple years.  If there can be good in this downturn, well, this is where I find it at present!

Wildflowers are gifts to the soul

I always think of lavender as a color of spiritual consciousness. This color inspires us to move through the dark times- especially the dark night of the soul.
I probably love the sixth chakra color best- indigo. Is this because I am working to separate truth from illusion? I have headaches and depression, as well as blind vision. Good signs that this is where I live, most days.

When the light hits flowers in a certain way, the color reflects differently. This reminds me that perspective can change my attitude about most things.

Blue is the color of self-expression and unites heart and head, encouraging me to surrender my personal will to Divine Will. This is very hard.

The pink color of the high heart chakra fills me with happiness and joy. I do long to live in compassion and empathy... to love unconditionally.

Green, the color of the heart, the color of healing and new life. Is there a reason green is the color of many surgical rooms?

Yellow holds the negativity of ego, but it is vital to define my personal power and to grow it and to apply it towards helping others.

Always, though, my favorite flower to see in the Hundred Acre Wood is this bright orange Indian Paintbrush. Orange helps us discover who we are in relationship to others, physically, creatively and financially. This is tough for an introvert like me

Sometimes my husband and I see red paintbrush, like this one up in Steamboat Springs. Red is the color of survival and tribe. It grounds us and stabilizes us, just as our family of origin did... for those of us who were lucky anyway.

Lovely photos, and I like the way that you've talked about the the effect each colour has on our lives and the chakras related to each colour. Inspirational!

What a beautiful place, we had a couple of those around here and the owners sold the trees for timber. Now it is a very desolate dark place.

thanks everyone, for walking with me!  it's fun to share.

i hope, fortunerep, this does not happen.  we are expecting more homes to be built and the intention is to preserve the Ponderosa Pine, which might also mean many wildflowers, though they don't live beneath PP very well.  we have lived in our home for 21 years and shared the gift of this space with our children, family and friends.

it takes a long time for wildflowers to appear and flourish.  when homes are built and the earth is torn apart, where do wildflowers go?  do they simply disappear?  or do they find "home" elsewhere?  if i had the money, i'd buy the Wood and leave it be!

You are really very lucky to be living where you are. And you've said it so well: Even the pictures are like gifts to the soul. I can only imagine how much nicer it must be to actually walk out amongst them in the clean, crisp and nippy early morning air, with dew still on the grass, some birds flitting about in the air, and to breathe in the rich aroma of the flowers, the pines and the undergrowth.

It might be worth trying - especially at this time when realty has lost so much value - to petition the authorities as a community, offering to buy, mortgage or take on long lease a big section of the woods. Your local councillor or senator of the area might be able to help the community, especially if it undertakes not to develop the place and to preserve the natural flora.

Jaspal, you say you are not the writer but in this brief comment it becomes obvious you are most definitely a poet. Thank you so much.

I would like to consider your second paragraph and its challenge. Perhaps this is something to pursue in this moment. Thank you for reminding me of the possibility. A corporation owns the acreage and the cost is a bit prohibitive. Our neighborhood organized to reduce the count of homes going in there and to save the trees, which was a successful effort. This might be a good time to revisit the entire issue, with companies struggling even as the middle class loses ground. I will meditate on it :).

Sally's Trove and GiftedGrandma, nice to walk with you this morning. Thanks for joining me.
