52Walking is a wonderful way to get yourself fitter
Did you know that walking to lose weight is the simplest and cheapest way to make regular daily exercise a part of your life? You don't have to join a gym. You don't have to buy special shoes or clothing. You don't have to get bored to tears pacing on a treadmill or other exercise machine... All you have to do is get off your backside and take a stroll around the block.
That's what I do, and depending on the weather and my mood, I can vary the routine by picking a different direction for my daily keep-fit walks. I can go around the nearest block for a short walk, or I can extend my constitutional walk to several blocks and walk for much longer. It's up to me, my mood and the day's weather.
Sure, some people like jogging, but that's harder on your feet and legs. I prefer walking at a fast pace - especially when I'm walking uphill. It really gets the heart and lungs going, so you should do it too.
At first I hated the idea of getting out of my nice warm bed 30 to 40 minutes earlier. But now this walking to lose weight exercise program is already having an effect on me, because I feel much happier with myself and I have more energy throughout the day. Even my girlfriend said to me last night that I was performing longer and more vigorously in the boudoir. That's been an added bonus that I hadn't even thought about before. I shall take it as a compliment.
Walking for weight loss isn't physically demanding unless you are badly unfit and/or obese. But it does put a strain on your willpower at first. It's all to easy to wimp out and give yourself excuses, like you're too tired or too busy.
The problem is you're too fat and probably too lazy as well, I know I have been. But now I've started walking every day to burn fat, lose weight and improve my fitness, I have found myself becoming more enthusiastic. I actually enjoy these walks so much that this week I have begun walking to lose weight twice a day: Once in the morning, before I shower and have my breakfast... and the other walk is taken in the evening after I have eaten an early dinner.
You can do your walking to lose weight on your own, with a spouse or partner, or even with a group of like-minded friends or acquaintances who can turn a pedestrian workout into an enjoyable social event for everyone concerned. After all, if getting fitter and healthier can be fun, we'll be more successful doing it.
