Baby I Love Your Way (Peter Framton)

Walking With My Soulmate

Walking for inspiration can be done by walking around your neighborhood, on a park walking path, on a school or fitness center track or on a treadmill. You can carry your camera on a shoulder strap for taking pictures when you feel inspired to do so if you do go outside to walk because there are so many things that happen that would make good photographs. You could even carry a journal and sit for awhile after your walk to write down all the inspiring thoughts you have had. If you're inclined to draw, you could carry a small drawing tablet.

Sometimes it's best to wear a CD player and play music while you walk if that makes you happy. You might have a particular CD that is good for listening to when you want inspiration whether it be Beethoven, U2 or something else. You might start out by listening to a CD which is about walking.

Always dress properly for the weather and stretch first. In the Summertime, wear cool, light cotton clothing. Walks can be inspiring no matter what the season or time of year, but you should dress properly.

When I have to talk in front of people, I like to prepare myself by talking to my husband while I'm walking. If I'm preparing for a class I'm taking, I can try the speech out on him and he is very honest in giving his opinion. The walk outdoors inspires me to give a positive-sounding speech because I love to walk anyway. If there is something on my mind that is bothering me, I walk with my husband or a friend to discuss it so that I can figure out a solution to a problem and work through it.

Sometimes I am out and about just to take pictures for my blog which I enjoy doing when I get home from a walk. It is inspiring to walk, stop to take pictures of animals in the park, the lake, the person I'm with or to ask a passerby to take a picture of me with my husband or friend. Sometimes I just like to take pictures of the scenery. Every July, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra gives a free concert in Prospect Park among other places, and I like to get shots of the people attending the concert as well as the orchestra playing. There are always fireworks at the end of the performance, and I get some good shots of that too. These are inspiring to take to add to my blogs. My friends all over the world can see my shots of where I've walked, things I've seen, people I meet and know, and get to know me better. I also send some of the photos to my granddaughter and show them to relatives when they visit. I love to keep photo albums of them too.

Sometimes it's good just to walk alone and gather your thoughts so that you can let the creative juices flow. Sometimes I really need to write a pro and con list in order to make a decision about something. It might be a decision regarding what I want to do next with my time whether it's go back to school, move to another state, visit a relative in another state or a very important decision about a relationship. Walking and just thinking things out can inspire you to move forward in a positive way in your life. When you get home you can write down your thoughts.

There's nothing more inspiring to me than sitting by the lake in Prospect Park, feeding the ducks and talking to my husband. Sometimes packing a picnic lunch and finding a shady bench and just watching the passersby is inspiring to both of us. One day we saw a young woman walking a dog, pushing a baby in a stroller and running in place as the dog was going near a tree. Now that's multi-tasking! Another day a man was riding a unicycle while he was juggling what looked like bowling pins all around the park on the bike path! You can get a lot of inspiration to talk about, write about, photograph, write a song about, and draw while taking a walk and taking time out to really watch what is going on around you. Enjoy your walking!

I walk in the morning in our neighbourhood for about 40 minutes for quite a few years.Initially, I started this practice for health reasons. Gradually, I started enjoying my morning walk.

I have tried carrying a portable player with me. But, I enjoy my walks even without music.

My black Lab, Knight, has been my companion since long. It is sad that he died a month ago .
