Walking trails introduced in East Valley community

Hidden Gem in the East Valley, Valley of the Sun
Each loop begins and ends at the state of the art Fitness Center. The south loop measures 1.9 miles and the north loop, 1.2 miles or a total of three miles for those more ambitious walkers. Each loop has quarter, half and mile markers and a number of turn-around points for those who wish to walk shorter distances. The trails are open to walkers, runners, bikers and golf carts.
The development of a measured trail system is another step in Leisure World’s modernization program to appeal to fitness minded people who are interested in living in an active adult community. Since 2001 the community has made a multi million-dollar investment in a state of the art fitness center, computer center with an open lab and classroom, and woodshop, as well as a new community clubhouse at the Heron Lakes golf course. The community is also in the process of raising $3.7 million dollars to renovate a Recreation Center located at its Coyote Run golf course.
A marketing committee of residents promoted the development of the walking trails. With the assistance of Recreation Director, Jan Zale, Director of Landscape Maintenance, Joe Marquez, and Fitness Supervisor, Rhonda Cap they planned and measured the trails, designed and installed trail markers.
