Walls are among the most important spaces in the room. A small change on a wall creates a big impact on how the room looks. It’s possible to make a small room seem bigger or affect the mood of people who enter the room. Here are some typical design dilemmas along with wall treatments that can help solve them.

Decorating a large wall

You can do several things with a large wall. This largely depends on your personality. Here are some suggestions:

· You can paint your walls with warm colors to make it look smaller. You can also divide it in sections and paint each section with a different shade. In addition, you can hang large artworks with interesting details like fleur de lis wall decor as a focal point.

· If you like your walls to look carefree and fun, you can use wall stickers. They are very easy to use and you can remove them with ease as well. You can also use paint to create shapes and other geometric figures. A mural would also be an interesting idea for the wall.

· You can also frame selected photos, posters or postcards. Arrange these frames on the wall as one large grouping for impact.

· Use drapes or curtains to soften a wall while adding interest and pattern.

Wall decorations for small spaces

In order to have an expansive feel for your small space, keep these ideas in mind:

· Use track lights that are directed on your walls. This will save floor space and will make the room seem larger. You can also use bright sconces.

· Paint your walls with light colors to make it look bigger.

· Add mirrors on your wall. This is a great and inexpensive way of creating an illusion of space.

· If you want to have iron wall hangings, make sure that they are proportionate with the size of your walls.

Dealing with dirty walls

Walls can easily get dirty especially if you have kids. If washing the walls does not help, repaint your walls. This is an easy and inexpensive way to freshen any room. The color of the paint depends on the size of the room and the wall. Light colors make a room seem larger, while dark colors make it more intimate.

Walls that are in bad shape

If there were cracks and holes on your wall, it would be repair them first with spackle. Do not paint on damaged walls because chips and dents will be very visible. If there is just a small scratch on the wall that you want to hide, cover it with framed art or a fleur de lis wall decor.

Dealing with dull walls

If you have a bland wall and you don’t want to repaint it, try hanging wall frames and artwork. Maps or a collage of photos and memorabilia, as well as wall décor, such as framed or unframed canvas art, metal wall art and wrought iron wall art are just a few of the decorative choices available.

Other wall treatments:

Decorating your walls will definitely change how your entire room looks. Here are some of the other ways to change the décor by changing your walls.

1. Use of wallpaper

Many think that using wallpaper is outdated. However, there are contemporary designs available that can appeal to modern tastes. These will add texture and color to your wall.

2. Using fabrics on the wall

You can do several things with the fabric aside from using it as your curtains or drapes. You can use it to cover an entire wall. This is easier and quicker than repainting it. It will give your room a softer feel.

As mentioned earlier, you can use iron wall hangings, paintings and other artworks on the wall. Just make sure that its size and arrangements are suitable with the size of your wall.
