Walmart Associates Voice Part Deux
781st class all the way
GOOD TO SEE YOU
Hey Folks,
Hucks on the move running out of room on the 1st Hub so I`m expanding. there`s so much going on we need another page STAY TUNED
The out of towner.......
10.15.09 I went to a Denny's restaurant for the first time the other night. Breakfast anytime and enough to feed a small army...But, that's not what this is about. I went there on the invite of a former walmart asst. mgr. I was hanging with a few friends and one of them had a relative from out of town staying with him..well we got to talking and somebody asked me how walmart was treating me, not out of concern but to break my balls (and a big fight ensued just kidding) and this out of towner says you work at walmart..I used to be an asst mgr (an asst mgr of all things) jes`they`ll let anybody do that job. So any way we got to talking ....then wound up at a Dennys, and here is some of what we talked about. I told him about the management changes we were going thru and how the first replacement crew (john becky etc) came in with guns a blazin writin up any body in thier way and treating people with little to no respect telling us how bad the crew of mary rich and ryan was and how they didn`t know what they were doing and then just like that the second crew changes too and we get a third crew of managers. So my new friend says to me ``did you have any visitors or fill ins on your shift prior to the first change`` and I thought a minute and remembered that Milda Bill and XXX worked for 3 nights on the grave shift and not long after that the changes started. So I thought he was on to something he then told me abut the coaching all the management gets on the wire..like how to greet associates... Hello so and so how are you.. but to not engage them in any type of personal conversation (don`t be overly friendly) as this builds a bond that an hourly associate will cling to and expect favors to come from.. or how managers are instructed to drop into an aisle and work freight with an associate not to help out but to gauge how fast (or slow) an associate works not for praise but for discipline.. He went on to tell me how the home office explains that management should look for the most popular of the associates on every shift and find ways to discipline those people to send a message so to speak that no one is untouchable... how associates should be on guard at all times that the friendliness should be keep to a minimum no overly loud joking or carrying on as this slows production....He then told me how managers are instructed to assign an associate more work than can be resonably done so that person will be hustling the whole shift and in panic mode to get the job done..also they are told to increase the amount of freight each night (little by little) to a saturation point... a point where no more could possibly be done and then gauge how much to expect on any given night depending on the amount of people working at that time and to keep pushing... and of course to keep payroll down and production up...We touched on alot of other things but this was the jist of the conversation....All these things are done to get the product on the shelves the freight out of the back room to increase profits (and managers bonuses) at the expense of the associates Keep the payroll down ...don`t replace associates that quit or are fired..increase the work load every night regardless of staffing levels don`t be overly friendly lest they think you like them (personally this is OK with me as I haven`t found a single asst. mgr. that I would want to be friends with) .
One last thing he mentioned that part of the reason he left walmart was because of the way you have to treat people ..but mainly because of the back stabbing and under handed things other members of management did to each other just to try and further their careers. Like putting other managers down and name calling.....Sound familiar
................................it`s a small @#$%&* up world.

TWIST and SHOUT
10.07.09 In case you haven`t noticed there are a few things that really twist me up. Stupidity, lack of respect, incompetence general lack of communication skills etc. Well the woman in personnel JENN embodies all of those traits and probably a few more I haven`t mentioned. This woman is in a position for which she is truly unqualified to be in. I`m willing to bet that more bad information comes out of that office than the Bush whitehouse. She just out andout sucks. This woman doesn`t know jack about benefits, company policy or any thing else walmart. She does know to show up on time when the big shots are coming though. Any other time she strolls in around 7-7:30 right after the grave shift leaves. That`s another thing the other shifts get to see someone in that office everyday while they are on the clock but the grave( overnight ) shift has to stand around on their own time to speak to personnel andif you need to get on the wire you can`t cause your NOT CLOCKED IN ( oh I`m gettin` twisted ) Shouldn`t we be on the clock for the time we spend waiting for her lame ass to punch in, get her coffee and then wait in line for your taste of abuse. ( I`m willing to bet a pay check that if everybody started staying on the clock to see her ..her hours would change.) It just isn`t right but it is typical walmart I was told by the other woman that works in that office, Nancy, ( I think she`s the css of that dept ). that Jenn would not be handling benefits anymore due to her stupidity (Nancy really said inconsistency ) any way Nancy is no better and is as rude as a fart in an elevator. Bottom line ...If you want something done by this office you`re better off doing it yourself. Here`s my case in point; I recently changed over to the money network card for my paycheck, for me it seemed like the right choice. So on Tuesday I tried to use my card for the 1st time I went to customer service ( 7:15 am 15 mins late to open customers waiting ) and stood in line. When my turn came I told the cashier what i wanted to do and she told me I had to use the ATM I told her it was my pay card and she said`` I don`t know nothing about that use the ATM`` Well, I knew that was wrong so I went to register 22 ( you know where the Css`s hang out. I wait for her to put down her coffee and ask her about using the card. I have no idea she says and asks the cashier on duty.. me neither the Css then tells me that she just saw Jenn going to the back and I should try her. ( Are you still with me it gets better ) So I go to the back and into personnel, there sits Jenn she doesn`t acknowledge me at 1st so I start talking I tell her about me problem she finally looks up and tells me she has never had a problem with direct deposit why did I get the card ( does that matter at this point!!! I`ve got the card and I can`t use it!! ) I tell her look, the pamphlet I got said I could get my money from any Sam`s club or walmart register when ever I wanted. She told me NO YOU CAN`T you have to use the ATM ( now I`m really twisted) I said to her you are wrong I shouldn`t have to use the ATM to get my pay and have to pay a FEE she again said I was wrong NOW GET THIS she told me that the store ATM had a $300 limit and I would have to pay a fee each time so I should go to WAWA and use that ATM as the limit was higher R U KIDN` ME. I know I`m not always right, But this time I was andby now I`m more TWISTED THAN CHUBBY CHECKER Did this idiot just send me to WAWA unnbelievvable (sic) So I leave the office before something bad happens. As I`m leaving I notice the phone # on the back of the card and call it, Guess what, I was RIGHT ALL ALONG you can get your money any time you want from any Sams or walmart register that is open without paying any fee what so ever with no limits to the amount, EVER. The woman on the phone tells me how to do it and that the cashier has to enter a code during the transaction...... CODE 70 that's all it took to get my money.... swipe the card...type in pin....code 70....amount you want.... that's it.!!!!! Why the @#$%& did I have to go to 3 people and take 40 mins. to GET PAID. When I straightened it out in less than 2 mins. on the phone. Shouldn`t the Trainer/Benefits person( known all the details and been able to help me ) and have trained all these people ( or at the very least sent out a memo ) especially the supervisors how the money network card works. I think they really screwed up again (this is the 2nd time I`ve had a major problem with personnel (last one was 3 months long!! ). Well guess what. this is the last time. I plan on going to the top with this problem and won`t stop until I have a solution in writing ( on company letter head ) I promise. And it won`t end with George. I will keep you posted.
In the mean time if you have a card and have a problem at a sam`s or walmart tell them to use. CODE 70
you know you make me want to SHOUT
PEACE, HUCK
Fairy tales can come true
10.06.09 During a conversation the other day I was told that the walmart corporation would shut a store down before letting it go Union. This came from a person in management. My response was you`re out of your #$%*@&+ mind, no way would they close a store and certainly not a supercenter.( and not one that makes 600k a non holiday week-end ) This mgr. continued to give me the standard anti Union crap and was really convinced that what he was saying was true. I could do nothing but laugh, but, it got me to thinking. Just suppose enough signature cards were collected to authorize a vote for union representation, what would walmart do. well first I think it would depend on whether they knew about ithe cards before hand. If the knew the Union was around they would start telling you how bad it was and how great you have it already how you get paid so much per hour how good your benefits are ( even tho the CEO said they weren`t really worth the price ) how the company looks out for you and gives you my share, etc. etc. They would tell you how the Union only wants your money ( dues ) how they don`t really care about you that they have no vested interest in the company. And they would show you those dumb anti- Union movies over and over again they also bring people in to infiltrate the ranks of employees and tell you anti Union crap and to see who sympathizes with the Union and then they would fire your ass. But they wouldn`t tell you about the increase in wages you could receive or the better benefits or seniority or the grievance procedure or how you would get the prevailing rate for the job you do each time you do it. They would do everything they could to stop the vote legal and otherwise But they wouldn`t shut a $4-5 mil per month store down no freaking way. Greed what stop that. Now suppose the vote did take place and the Union won ,then what. Well it would probably take years to get a contract in place they would challenge and appeal everything they would try to make it look like it was the Unions` fault, that they weren`t negotiating in good faith, and we all would know it wasn`t true. The Union is a very scary thing for walmart as it would force them to stop treating thier employees as slaves. Anyhow I think this subject should be discussed more at length after yearly evaluations and raises come out in November
Imagine being the first walmart ever to go union.
dream a little dream
