I often times have people ask me where do I get started in internet markeitng and how do I even begin to see success when I don't have it yet. My answer is quite simple..."Start learning from the pros!"

If you are serious about building a substantial income from the comfort of your own home you are going to have to get out of your comfort zone. Start learning as much as you can about online marketing. Actually, learn as much as you can about marketing all together. Everyone starts as a newbie. You'll find out that most professional internet marketers are still learning. Go figure.

The reality is that the only time that "success" comes before "work" is in the dictionary and that goes for every aspect of life. So, it makes sense to follow the lead of those that have been successful in the internet marketing realm. Start mingling with people that ARE making a full time income from home.

People every single day are coming online and finding a whole new world of e-commerce that they are being exposed to. You are either a buyer or you are a seller (or both). If you are a seller, you are most likely a buyer as well...because you understand that with knowledge you are more likely to become more successful in your internet marketing practices.

Join Forums

That's right...join internet marketing forums such as The Warrior Forum or Conquer Your Niche. These are great places to meet top noch internet marketers from all over the world that will share their secrets.

Build relationships with those that have already walked the walk and ask them for advice. Subscribe to newsletters and read and learn, but be careful not to blow too much money on the marketing secrets offered by the so called "Gurus". Internet marketing can be a lucrative business, but it can also add a hole in your pocket book if you're not careful. They don't call it internet marketing for nothing...these people know how to market and they are good at it.

Educate Yourself

Start reading books about business. Learn about affiliate markeitng, MLM, or other various ways of making money online. Regardless of what you sell, you will be selling something. Some marketers just focus on marketing others' products and services (affiliate marketing). Affiliate marketing can be a very lucrative business if done correctly.

Consider creating your own product or service, but make sure there is a market for it before you even think about creating something that just won't sell. There has to be a market for anything for it to sell.

Start reading books on copywriting and marketing techniques used by some of the top marketers or corporations. Understand the psychology behind your target market. Discover different techniques that will develop your current skills and never stop learning.

Build Your List

You'll hear this concept quite often when it comes to creating success online. "The Money Is In The List". It's quite true. We all have entered our e-mail in some newsletter and now we may get daily, weekly, or monthly newsletters that relate to a specific topic or market.

Notice that through that list you will find that there are periodic promotions for products, services, or business opportunities. These concepts are universal in internet marketing. Build your list and make sure you provide that list with enough value to keep them reading. Give them incentive for the next message from you. Don't just build the list...build the relationship with your list.

Think of it this way. Oprah has an international presence. She has provided so much value to her viewers, that every time she endorses a product or service...sales go through the roof. You want to become Oprah in the eyes of your subscribers (on a much smaller scale I suppose, but you get the point).

So, there you have it. Build relationships with people. That is pretty much the whole idea behind selling and marketing...because in the long run, it does not matter what you sell; people buy from people that they can trust. If you provide enough value to others, they'll see the value you have to offer.
