Have you always wanted a little baby girl? Need a baby girl to bring "balance" to your family? Does your husband want his "daddy's little girl"?

You may be surprised to know there are simple, low tech, at home steps you can implement to help you achieve your goal.

The late Dr. Landrum Shettles developed three simple steps that when followed diligently can raise your chance of having that little girl from about 50/50 to over 94%!

Dr. Shettles realized that it's always the man's sperm that determines the sex of your baby. Why it that? Because the woman's egg always carries but one set of chromosomes, and that's the (xx) chromosome which is all "girl".

The man's sperm carries both the (xy) chromosome (makes girl babies) and the (xy) chromosome (which makes boy babies.)

So as you can see (sorry ladies) the guys may have even more to do with determining the sex of your baby than you knew! If only Henry VIII knew, he might have done himself in instead! Test tube babies aside, men and women still need each other to procreate, and that's just fine with me lol!

The two sperm differ also in the fact that the (xy) or girl sperm is the larger, tougher (longer lived) but slower of the two, leaving the (yy) or boy sperm as the smaller, weaker (dies off quicker) but faster swimmer of the two.

Keeping these differences in mind, let's see how  we can take advantage, and put the odds in our favor!

Although maybe not as critcal as when your trying to conceive a baby boy, the timing of conceptual sex when trying to have a girl is still very important to your success.

When trying to conceive a girl baby you can have sex as much as you want throughout the month, but should abstain about two days before ovulation until two days after ovulation. Why? Because the girl sperm can survive for several days in the womb, which gives the boy sperm too much time waiting for the egg to appear (they will die off) leaving only the remaining girl sperm left to do the deed, resulting in that little girl you need.

The proper timing of conceptual sex by itself is but the first step in Shettles three step method of baby gender selection techniques, let's take a look at what else you need to do to assure success.

By using only shallow penetration during sex to conceive regardless of the position you will be giving yourself the best chance of success. Why is this? Because with only shallow penetration (especially during ejaculation) you will be giving the sperm so far to travel, the boy sperm will find it hard to survive the journey leaving only the girl sperm to fertilize the egg.

Remember a small amount of sperm can be released even before ejaculation, so practicing shallow penetration throughout intercourse while trying to conceive a baby girl is the best course of action.

Diligence and self control are key here, you want to deposit the sperm as far from the womb as possible.

Your body's ph can have a dramatic effect on the survival (or not!) of sperm in the female body. The boy sperm will find a more acidic vaginal environment to be difficult to survive in for very long.

First you will need to monitor your body's ph, the best way to do this is testing with inexpensive ph test strips that you can find links to here on the right side of this page.

So if you want to conceive a baby girl you need to lower (in most cases) the ph in your reproductive tract. How can you do this? There are a couple of ways, first you can douche, which can change your body's ph quickly and effectively, although only temporarily, but long enough to hopefully to seal the fate of the boy sperm and favor the girl sperm fertilizing the egg, resulting in a baby girl. Because of the possibility of infections I would only recommend going this route under the supervision of your doctor.

The second way is to eat the right foods and supplements for as long as it takes to effectvely lower your ph or raise your body's acidity. Here's a list of foods and supplements that will help you achieve that:

• Dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt)
• Beans, Legumes
• Most fruits
• Meats
• Corn
• Fish 
• Whole grains
• Foods high in Calcium and Magnesium

Baby gender selection isn't an exact science,but The Shettles methods can work for you , you'll just need to be diligent in controlling all the variables involved. Conceiving a baby girl may well prove easier than conceiving a baby boy (the timing isn't quite as critical.)
