History of the UGG Boot
An ugly fashion trend since the early 2000's. The boots are fashioned out of sheep skin. A unisex style the tanned leather on the outside and wool on the inside. The term ugg boots according to Wikipedia has been used as a generic name for sheepskin/kangaroo boots in Australia since the 1970's, when they first appeared in advertising and other publications.
The natural insulate properties of sheepskin gives the thermostatic properties to the boots: the thick fleecy fibbers on the inner part of the boots allow air to circulate and keep the feet at body temperature. This means that ugh boots can be worn without socks. This also according to Wikipedia.

Why UGG?
I the shoe addicted writer adore UGG boots. I have two pair, and thinking about asking Santa for another pair. You might say; "but they are so expensive". I say an investment. My daughter is 5 and I bought her a pair three years ago. They still fit. I bought them large because kids can wear them a little bigger than adults can. I like my UGG boots to fit snugly as they can be too sloppy, and flop around when you walk. They are versatile, and besides the classic style there are many other UGG styles. They even offer warmer climate styles.
A pair of short UGG boots costs a little less than $100 for a kid. Devide that by three; $33.50. In my case my daughter has a wide instep so I typically have to buy her more expensive wide width shoe. A pair of shoes for her usually costs me $40 or more. So I think it is a good investment at least for me.
We don't have slushy, snowy winters in Mississippi so they don't get salt stained. My daughter actually wrote all over her UGG boots with marker (not permanent) and I managed to get it off with a "KIWI" leather and nubuck leather cleaner. I bet it would work for salt stains too. My sister loves UGG boots. She lives in Canada. She likes them because she never has to take them off, and wears them summer and winter.
Of course you can buy the knock off's if you like. Beware of sites offering UGG boots for less than $50.00. Usually they are not authentic. They tell you they are authentic, but I have heard too many stories of people getting ripped off by these people.

UGG Styles
UGG has lots of different styles. They come out with a new boot and they put a metal bar on the back with UGG stamped into it. This is supposed to mean that this is a limited edition boot.
UGG offers slippers (or house shoes), in all sizes. Warmer weather shoes, flip-flops, and sandals. UGG also has a line of apparel and accessories too. They make men's, women's and childrens apparel and shoes. If you don't see what you are looking for here go to uggaustralia.com.

Thanks for dropping in Habee,
I love my uggs, I wish I could have every kind and colour there is, but I am not rich. My lovely sis is rich so maybe she can buy them for me..LOL
Poor Baby if you're not nice then Santa won't bring you anything. Maybe when your sister is a rich famous writer she'll buy you a pair of UGG's in every color and style. Until then like the rest of us .....Keep Dreaming!
I learned all my bad behaviour from my oldest sister. I hope my sis will become rich and by a big dark hole she can live in. Dream on!!!
wouldn't you miss her? Oh yeah i forgot you already live 1,000 miles away from her so it wouldn't be that big a deal.

Thanks for the education, Tammy. I've seen UGGs before, but never knew they had their own name & history. I think I know what I want my next pair of boots to be.
