Washington D.C. may seem like a city geared more towards adults. Most of the attractions are, after all, government buildings, memorials, and museums. For kids on vacation, Washington D.C. may seem more like a...
- Nathan's -
- When you think of eating out, you may not immediately think of hot dogs, but in D.C. the dogs are better than what you're used to. Nathan's is the best, hot-dog place in the D.C. area. Another great spot to grab a dog is named Sabrett's. Easily recognized by their yellow and blue carts and bright umbrellas, they can be found at many locations throughout the city. The greatest thing about these hot dog vendors is that they are a quick bite on the go when you don't have a lot of time.
- The Market Lunch -
- Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and there are lots of option for the best breakfasts in Washington DC. Blueberry pancakes are the claim to fame for The Market Lunch. This popular place features a nice Capitol Hill feel and often a long wait. However, this is all part of the experience. If you want a hearty breakfast with all the trimmings, including eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and all other breakfast necessities, head to Afterwords Cafe. Another option for this is the Luna Grill and Diner. Finally, if you would like a more formal place for dinner, including reservations and tablecloths, you want to try out The Old Ebbitt Grill.
- Pizzeria Paradiso -
- Probably the most popular of all kid-friendly foods is pizza. And Washington D.C. has a great pizza option called Pizzeria Paradiso. This classic wood-oven-baked pizza. The favorite among most pizza goers is called the Quatro Formaggi, which means Four Cheeses. Pizzas this great generally don't need toppings.
- Gifford's - Ben & Jerry's - Chick & Ruth's Delly -
- After a day of delicious food, everyone needs a good dessert. There are great places, some are best for ice cream, while others specialize in milkshakes. Ice cream dominates Gifford's. This ice cream shop pleases its regular customers and visitors every day with items like the Hot Fudge or Swiss sundaes or a double-dip cone. However, there is only one location of Gifford's so if you aren't in the area, you can always look for one of D.C.'s six locations of Ben and Jerry's. Another shop that is close to ice cream, but vastly different for those who love them, is a great place for finding the perfect milkshake. It's called Chick and Ruth's Delly and is known for their too-thick-to-drink-through-a-straw milkshakes made with the thickest and creamiest ice cream in the Washington D.C. area.
- Finishing Remarks -
- Whether you are looking for a great beginning to the day, a good lunch of pizza, a quick hot dog on the run, or a sweet ending to any meal, there are plenty of options in Washington D.C.

Thanks for commenting. I like to try foods, but I couldn't list everything I got to try in Washington DC, it would be too long of a list. Also, yes, I've heard of Buca di Beppos and I went there on my last trip to DC.
