Waste Oil Boilers Destroy Heating Bills
74
Every household across this country is feeling the cost of rising heating costs in some way. According to USA Today the average heating bill went up by 10.9% in 2009. For many people this is an ever increasing bill that is just a part of life. Fighting back would be the smartest course of action but how? When winter comes around turning down the heat past a certain point is not an option and boycotting utility companies will most likely not work either.
How about investing in a waste oil boiler? Disconnect from the heating utility companies altogether and make your own heat. This is an excellent alternative energy that virtually costs nothing compared with the saving it produces once you have the machine. They run entirely off used motor oil or vegetable oil. Most people who change their own oil or businesses that produce large quantities of it either bring it to the city dump or pay a company to pick it up.
Waste oil boilers or furnaces work a lot like their regular counterparts except that instead of burning natural gas or heating oil they burn waste oil. What a novel concept! Take something that the majority of society sees as a burden and turn it into a useful fuel that can produce heat.
These devices are not cheap to set up. They will cost an individual anywhere from $6,000 to $8,000 to purchase and install. There are used boilers that one can purchase for half this price. You also have to secure an adequate quantity of used motor or vegetable oil. These are potential set-backs you might have to figure out a solution to. Rest assured that if you are able to come up with a solution the payoff is tremendous. Imagine being totally self sufficient from at least one utility company especially in the middle of winter.
You will have to do your best at filtering whatever oil you get as these machines are extremely delicate and can clog easily if proper care is not taken. As long as you make an effort to do so and get your boiler cleaned out at least annually then you should have a heating device that will save you thousands over several years. The payback is more than you can imagine.
In 2009 most people would like to go green in some form or another but want it to be cost effectice and useful. Waste oil boilers are both. They are a way for you to re-use a material that is usually just thrown out and save yourself tons of money in the process.

Props to you for raising awareness about waste fuel burners--too bad fuel availability is such a problem.
A small point, but the USA Today article you link to is from November 2007, and the 10.9% increase in heating costs was the predicted increase in prices from the 2006-2007 to the 2007-2008 heating season. Check your date lines and your facts!
