Arrested Development was one of the most innovative, creative, and "out there" comedies to ever be on TV.  You can say that Arrested Development was a few years ahead of its time.  It was on the Fox network for 3 seasons before it was canceled.

In Arrested Development, we follow the lives and times of the Bluth family.  In the premiere episode, the patriarch of the family, played by Jeffrey Tambor, has been sent to prison for a whole slew of reasons, one of which being his business dealings with Saddam Hussein.  Yeah they go there.  The Bluths work in the real estate business in Orange County, California, a few hours south of Los Angeles.  Don't call it "The O.C."

Michael Bluth (played to perfection by Jason Bateman) is left to look after his eccentric family and his family's crumbling business interests while his father is having the time of his life in prison.  Along for the ride is Michael's son, the unfortunately named George Michael, played by Michael Cera in a career-making role.  

Arrested Development Cast

Michael Bluth: Jason Bateman.  Michael is smart, has good business sense, and is the only member of the Bluth clan with any hint of sanity.

George Michael Bluth: Michael Cera.  George Michael is a bookish, responsible kid who has as crush on his cousin (unrelated) Maybe.

George Bluth Sr.: Jeffrey Tambor

Lucille Bluth (Michael's mother): Jessica Walter

Buster Bluth (Michael's younger brother): Tony Hale.  Buster is socially-awkward, totally dependent on his mother, and may be slightly mentally ill.

Lindsay Funke (Michael's sister): Portia de Rossi.  Lindsay is a careless, lazy spendthrift who bounces from one environmental cause to another and is constantly looking for extra-marital affairs.

Tobia Funke: David Cross.  Married to Lindsay, Tobias is a wannabe actor with absolutely nothing to offer anyone.

Maybe Funke: Alia Shawksat.  Maybe is the cousin who George Michael has a crush on.  She is the long-suffering daughter of her two inept parents, Lindsay and Tobias.

Since not all of the Arrested Development episodes are up online, you may want to get the DVDs of the show.

You can generally find good deal on eBay.  See the deals on season one to the right.  Alternatively, you might want to buy the complete series in one package and own every episode, in addition to the DVD commentary, which is quite hilarious.

Season 2 of Arrested Development is where things start to really get crazy.  At this point, we know all the characters and what they are capable of.

George Bluth Sr's web of deceit begins to unravel and Michael Bluth continues to barely hold his family and his company together.  

You can find good prices for this three DVD set on eBay.  

Season 3 highlights include a multi-episode arc starring not other than Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron, who plays Michael's love interest, who may not be completely "all there" in the head.

She sure is pretty though, and she exercises her comedy chops in the episodes she appears in. Also in season 3 of Arrested, Michael gets involved in a conspiracy in Little Britain, the tiny part of the fictional Orange County where all the British live.  What?!  

It's hilarious.
