Castle is an ABC TV show that premiered mid-way through the season in March of 2009.  Since then, it seems that the charming, funny, and entertaining Castle has wormed its way into many people's hearts, much in the same way title character Richard Castle played by Nathan Fillion (Firefly) wormed his way into the New York City police department.

The show starts when famous mystery novelist Richard Castle kills off the well-known character in his series of cheesy novels.  Soon after, there are reports that a copycat murderer is loose and is basing his crimes on what happened in Castle's novel.

The NYPD and the beautiful detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) ask for Castle's insight into the case.  He ends up helping them and a beautiful partnership is formed.  Well, it's not alway so beautiful, but in the end the new "partners" seem to always get their man.  You can also watch episodes of Castle online, which is always a good thing.

Castle stays on after the initial case because he is inspired again and believes he has a new model for a character for his new novel. His new character is Nicky Heat and she's based entirely on Kate Beckett.

The first novel in Castle's new series is called Heat Wave. In an odd bit of fiction turning into reality and blurring the lines between TV and reality, you can actually buy Heat Wave by Richard Castle in book stores near you, or you can find it cheap on eBay.

It's a short book and a quick entertaining read, written completely in character as Richard Castle. Fans of the show will quickly recognize Kate Beckett in the character of Nicky Heat.

One of the fun things about this show is that it's so light-hearted and funny.  Castle has a lot of women in his life.  Besides Kate Beckett, he has his overly-mature and intelligent daughter Alexis, who takes care of her father and even helps him solve some of the cases by giving him someone to bounce ideas off of.

Then there's his mother, Martha Rodgers, a sophisticated former Broadway actress who lovingly gives Castle a hard time about everything in his life.

If you missed the first season of Castle, you can get caught up by finding it on eBay.  

Season one of Castle is not to be missed because it really sets the tone of the show and the early interactions between Castle and Beckett are really funny.  Let's put it this way, the very serious, career-oriented Kate Beckett is not so keen on the fun-loving, wealthy, overly-confident Castle.

Things change though as she starts to see the value of their partnership.  Bottom line is they get results.
