Mad Men is a stylish AMC original dramatic series that has captured the imagination of a lot of people in its short three year run.

Mad Men takes place in the early 1960's and centers on the burgeoning advertising industry.  The epicenter of the new creative marketing ideas was Madison Avenue in Manhattan, New York.  

The show follows the rise of creative genius Don Draper, who is at once a genius at work and a womanizing lothario behind the scenes.  Draper is also a man with a dark past--a dark pas that he tries to forget, but still occasionally has flashbacks to. 

Mad Men is unique in its attention to the period detail of the '60's, it's timely and well-written dialog, and its interesting and often "slow" storytelling sensibility.  Mad Men is now in its third season on AMC, and is winning more fans, especially after cleaning up at the Emmy's this year.

Mad Men stars John Hamm as Don Draper, January Jones as Betty Draper (Don's unhappy wife), and John Slattery as Roger Sterling.  

Elisabeth Moss plays Peggy Olson, who is a young and talented ad copywriter who sees first hand just how sexism in the work place works.

In the second season of Mad Men, cracks start to show in the meticulously crafter facade that is Don Draper. We learn more about the mysterious Dick Whitman.

One of the best episodes of the series happens close to the end of season 2. In the episode titled "The Jet Set," Don travels to California for a business trip where he meets some high-living and decadent American aristocrats. Needless to say, it's an adventure.

Mad Men is a very interesting show, but it may take you at least two episodes to really get into it.  You have to give yourself time to learn a little bit about the characters and the back stories.  

You may, at first, think it's a little bit slow, but it's a very well done show that may just suck you in.  Watch Mad Men online.
