OK, so before I began writing this article I searched for some hubs on the same subject and what I found was articles that led me to sites that wanted money, either a one-time fee or a subscription. Of course there were also those sites that want you to answer some annoying question, like ' What Family Guy character would you be?'. A question that leads to some god awful endless survey. I guess free doesn't have the same meaning in internet-land.

The 'free' I'm referring to is the old-school meaning of - costs nothing.

The site I most recommend is www.movie2k.com. The site is easy to navigate for experienced internet users. I have found however, after referring some friends to the site, that those with limited computer or internet knowledge find it a bit challenging. So, I will share a few helpful tips and info I've discovered from my use of the site.

You will not be required to download any software, however, I have found that the best format to watch movies is DivX, which will require you to download the free (meaning - costs nothing) DivX Web Player software at www.divx.com. You may find that some movies are only available in that format.

The site has over 29,000 different movies currently in its archive and they are available in several different languages.

The main page of the site shows the most recent movies, many of which are still in theaters or not yet available on DVD.

Find the movie you would like to see by entering it in the search bar. If the movie is in the archive it will show a list of the available languages and formats and the date that the movie was added to the archive. I have found that the most recent date is usually the best quality. Most of the movies are DVD quality. Simply click on the version you wish to view and you will be directed to the site to watch it. The movie will not download to your computer, you will watch it streaming live. These movie files can be quite large and may take some time to load. I have found that on the whole if you pause the player for 2 - 5 minutes and press play again the movie will play just fine. However, if you have a slow connection the movie may pause occasionally to load (not download) more of the file before it resumes playing.

If you are not sure what you would like to watch you can search by genre or just check out the latest updates. If you haven't heard of the movie title before simply click on it and you will get a short synopsis of the film, the actors who star in it, and the year it was released.

The quality of some of the 'Still in Theaters' movies make the movie, in my opinion, not worth watching.  However, that is not always the case.  I watched Saw 6 on this site the day after it was released in theaters and it was DVD quality.  If you cannot find a good quality version of the movie you would like to see, I have found that by waiting a week or two after the movie was originally released and finding the most recent update you will find a DVD quality version available.

The site has an archive of over 100 different TV shows available from many network and cable television stations. Did you happen to miss the season finale of HBO's True Blood? Just scroll through the available shows and click on True Blood and you will be shown a list of the available seasons and episodes. Some shows, such as Law and Order and House have nearly all seaons and episodes available. And all without commercials. Simply click on the episode you would like to see and there you go.

It generally takes about a week after the program has originally aired on TV for it to be added to the archive. So, if you don't find what you are looking for check back in a few days and it will mostly likely have been added.

These shows are also available in several languages. The language is represented by a flag, for example the shows available in english have an american flag icon.

Shows available range from M.A.S.H. and Knight Rider to Hannah Montana and Spongebob to Heroes and Grey's Anatomy. 

You can also search shows by genre, however if you try to search for a TV show in the search bar you may not find it. I have found that the search bar tends to only return titles from the movie archive.

This site only has a little over 2300 different movies available, but they are 100% free.  It is very easy to navigate because all the available movies are on the main page.  Simply scroll through the titles and click on the one you want to watch.
