I'm going to quickly cover some information about how you can watch TV series online free, which sites to go to, how to use them, and at then end I'm going to give you what I think is the best, and by far the easiest, way to watch television online free (software that goes and fetches all the available free channels, there's over 3000, and puts them all in one place for you to peruse and watch at your leisure).

Usually the way it works is that most TV stations (NBC, CNN, ESPN, TNT, FOX News, etc.) will have live video feeds of most of their shows available on their site for free for you to watch, these are what's known as 'free to air' satellite television broadcasts. The only down side to this is that you have to go to each individual stations site, search and navigate until you find the show that you want and then find the video feed for it, and you have to do that each time you want to watch a new episode of your favorite tv series online.

Another option is to go to either YouTube.com or GoogleVideo and search for the show that you want, but the problems with this are that shows are often uploaded and then quickly removed due to copyright violations AND YouTube limits all uploaded videos to a maximum length of ten minutes so there's no way a whole show can fit on one video, and the videos also tend to be low to medium quality at best, so they're often blurry, grainy and have poor audio quality.

There's several sites that put together all the available streaming video feeds from every TV station of every country in the world, so the sites themselves are a list of links to each individual stations website, organized by country. Of course, you still have to go to the site, find your country, find the station, go to the site and then find the show you want and it's corresponding videos. The best sites that do this are BeeLineTV.com and WorldTVPC.com, I do recommend you check them out before you try the following option.
