Let's take a quick look at who's playing who in the first round.

You have the number one seed Los Angeles Lakers playing the number eight seed Utah Jazz in the Western conference.  This should not be a hard matchup for Kobe, Gasol and the rest of the Lakers who had the second best record in the NBA. The Lakers won the season series 2-1.

On the Eastern conference it features number one seed Cleveland Cavaliers versus the number eight seed Detroit Pistons.  This should be a fun matchup but LeBron should lead his team easily to the second round. The Cavs won the season series 3-1.

Back over on the West, you have the number two seed Denver Nuggets hosting the always dangerous number seven seed New Orleans Hornets with David West and Chris Paul. The season series was split 2 games a piece.

On the East, you have the number two seed Boston Celtics and the number seven seed Chicago Bulls.  Boston won the series 2-1 and should make pretty easy work of the Bulls to advance to the second round.

Then you have the number three seed San Antonio Spurs versus their I 35 rivals the number six seed Dallas Mavericks.  The Spurs barely eeked out the 3 seed and need all Tony Parker, Tim Duncan and Michael Finley can offer to get to round two. The series was split 2 games each.

Next on the Eastern Conference side you have the number three seed Orlando Magic versus the number six seed Philidelphia 76ers.  Orlando swept the season series 3-0 and hope to do the same in the playoffs.

Finally you have the number four seed Portland Trailblazers who edged ahead of the number five seed Houston Rockets to get the home court advantage for the first round of the playoffs. Houston won the series 2-1 and looks to get the upset over the Trailblazers to face the Lakers in the second round.

Then you have the number four seed Atlanta Hawks facing the number five seed Miami Heat in the last matchup of the Eastern Conference.  Atlanta won the season series 3-1 and hope to do the same to face the Cavs in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
