Great movie by Michael Moore. I don't know how long this movie will be available free online in Google, but you can watch the movie here.

Here is the Synopsis of the movie:

Writer/producer Michael Moore interviews Americans who have been denied treatment by our health care insurance companies -- companies who sacrifice essential health services in order to maximize profits. The consequences for the individual subscribers range from bankruptcy to the unnecessary deaths of loved ones.

Moore then looks at universal free health care systems in Canada, France, Britain, and Cuba, debunking all the fears (lower quality of care, poorer compensation for doctors, big-government bureaucracy) that have been used to dissuade Americans from establishing such a system here. The roots of those health care systems are explored, and our failure to establish free health here care is traced to a) President Richard Nixon's deceptive support of the then-emerging HMOs pursuing huge profits and b) subsequent pressures for Congress to sacrifice sound health care in favor of corporate profit.

A group of Americans who became ill from volunteering at 911 Ground Zero, but were refused health coverage for their illnesses, are ferried by Moore to Cuba, where they receive the top-rate, free care one would hope they'd get here at home.

In his interviews, historical reportage, and typical sarcastic wit, Moore soundly condemns American health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies, as well as the politicians who have been paid millions to do their bidding. He makes the case that there is something wrong with Americans that we cannot learn from the successes of other countries in providing better quality-of-health than we enjoy in the USA.

You are using a master that was stolen before the movie opened July 6. The master was stolen by entities that want to discredit More and drive down the box office to limit the influence and impact of the film. You chose to provide it free, your doing the dirty work for big Pharma and criminal HBO's. Great job assholes!

Health care in my country is terrible, two weeks ago they were going to 'import' doctors from Indonesia, because of the shortage of doctors here. Fifty percent of our doctors have emigrated to the UK, Australia and New Zealand. To crown things off, here is a huge strike going on now for months. The elderly and the new born babies are really taking the strain, and everyday there are fatalities. I will definitely watch this thx cgull.

Ironfox, the movie is in Google Video, it is not hosted here. Besides we are just talking about the health care system and we want it improved. Thats terrible Annalene, a good health care system is essential for any country if they want to march forward in progress. US spends more for one person than any other country but sadly 50 million of them don't have insurance. I hope after this there will be some change.

Thank you for having this. Too long I have personally been so destroyed from doctors, healthcare insurance company CIGNA and all involved. God has been the only one to help me. Thank you again for allowing me to view this since it isn't playing near here. :)

What can I say?.....

Powerful movie, hmmmm....food for thought..

I currently work as a nurse, in the private sector in a Queensland hospital and fear that we are becoming very much like America....where it is all about profit and has nothing to do with patient care......as long as the share holders are profiting who really gives a toss whether the patients are getting what they need or that the nurses have the time to deliver?...Private health, what a crock!!!!..Someone please give me an anti-emetic!!!

So disillusioned am I that I am considering going to work in a video store.....something is seriously wrong here.

Hi Daryl, we should buy this DVD also, it is an important part of US History, I hope there is never a period like this in the future.

Hi Gunnar, sam, it is occuring worldwide also, so just pray it never occurs in your country.

Disllusioned, thanks for bringing your perspective, it is sad to see this in Australia also. It is spreading as you say, they are breaking every hippocratic oath. Education is also becoming like that.

Thanks the1crone. Hope we don't see this in the future.

I don't get it where is the tax money going on??? to the war expenses???

anyway I think there might be a problem with Universal Health system like canada, australia and other countries where its already implemented..waiting period...unless if the patient is dieing then only u will get the appointment/ operation immediately otherwise for small things to medium u have to wait months and sometimes years...

the second problem is already in USA there are somany people are NOT working full time and depending on social security or unemployment compensation, medicaid, medicare..etc...the Universal or any insurance must be tie up with the TAX money that each individual paying, example my family is paying almost 100-110K just taxes/ year...and we are in mid 30's and not much major health related issues at this time and hopefully not expecting for atleast another 20-25 years...but who knows...anyway my point is if i am paying that much tax i should be benefited more not like everyone who is NOT at all paying the taxes or may be 5K-10K/year...should get little coverage...it should be depend on how much tax each individual paying...that way u will be helping the Government for paying taxes correctly and highly...that's my two cents....

In india NO INSURANCE concept at all, u have to pay from your pocket for all the medical related issues...but still getting an excellent medical treatment...and ofcourse they dont pay too much taxes too....

The movie has been removed at Google, it is a must see movie by every American, in other countries who knows this system might spread there also.

The tax management is one of the worst, goes mainly to defense and other wasteful measures, the congress should see this carefully, but both Democrats and Republicans respond only to big corporations.

Powerful movie. A little more subtle and savvy than F911 and BFC. For the record, I would like to note that as a Canadian who benefits from universal health care, I realize our health care system is not perfect, but feel that its shortcomings lie in how it is managed and operationalized, not the concept of universal health care itself. I also would like to remind people that the point of the film was that those who "have" - those with health care insurance are not receiving adequate health care. So, the system itself is broken. Universal health care does not necessarily cost tax payers more, it does however put obviously corrupt insurance companies out of business. It isn't the "have" paying for the "have-not", but rather eliminating a system whereby members of the powerful elite cannot take advantage of the sick and vulnerable and pocket health care dollars. BTW I hate the term "powerful elite" because it blends an esthetic of laziness and conspiracy theory. As the film showed, the health care insurance industry, along with the pharmaceutical industry are lead by extremely rich (to the tune of $15M-$75M annual salaries typically) and immoral business leaders and health professionals. We should direct our hate and suspicion towards them, not each other.

Powerful movie. But it doesn't surprise me. This country is no longer a democracy. It's no longer one person, one vote. It's now "one dollar, one vote." So the billionaire gets thousands of time more representation in governement than the avergae working stiff. Great Hub!!!
