Water damage in Los Angeles can be a big problem. You wouldn't think so considering it is so dry most of the time but when a water line breaks it can really cause havoc. I have seen pictures of cars falling into big holes created by the water flushing away all the soil.
If you are looking for earthquake insurance I would definitley make sure it had coverage for water damage if possible. Up here in Oregon you have to have flood insurance to have any coverage from damage caused by water.
