MANAGEMENT OF WATER

Natural resources management combines economics, policy, manage and restore natural resources and ecosystems.

This is an essential management for the world as it helps in balance the needs of people and economy with the ability of ecosystems to support soil, water, forest, animal, fish, and fuel.



OBJECTIVES

Our objective in this assignment is to achieve on how we implement natural resources management in the point of their very  own policy. The key objectives of the vision are as follows:

  1. Water for people: all have access to safe, adequate and affordable water supply, hygiene and sanitation.

  2. Water for food and rural development: provision of sufficient water that will ensure national food security and promote rural development.

  3. Water for economic development: provision of sufficient water to spur and sustain economic growth within the context of a knowledge-based economy and e-commerce.

  4. Water for the environment: protection of the water environment to preserve water resources (both surface water and groundwater) and natural flow regimes, bio-diversity and the cultural heritage, along with mitigation of water-related hazards.

Methods of management


  1. 1. Practice integrated water resources management by formulate a national water policy and comprehensive water legislation and guidelines
  2.  Balance withdrawal/use and conservation of water by develop innovative technologies with respect to wise water use, water and wastewater treatment, water reuse and recycling and alternative water sources
  3. Manage water resources effectively and efficiently by establish an efficient institutional framework, such as river basin authorities and engage in extensive research and development in the water management sector
  4. Improve wastewater management by continuously improve water technology
  5. Promote public-private partnership by promote greater cooperation among all stakeholders and set up a national water institute to look into the best practices in the water sector.
  6. Manage river basins through the ecosystem approach by carry out assessment studies/protection for each river basin and assess the ecosystem status, services and sensitivity in each river basin.
  7. Minimize water pollution, floods and drought through develop a flood-control master plan and drought contingency plans, including land-use guidelines for each catchments.
  8.  Mobilize mass media/NGOs over water awareness which include encourage dialogue among stakeholders at different levels and locations and publish the outcome of the consultations.
  9. Monitor the implementation of agreed solutions and amend the policies based on the feedback. For example, we can have the sustainability of the water sector monitored by independent groups or use the recommendations by monitoring bodies to amend strategies.


Policies


The policies that are being used in Malaysia are environmental policy, quality policy, and health and safety policy. In environment policy, reduce chemical wastage, prevent pollution, minimize the adverse impact to environment, comply with all relevant Federal, State, Local Environment Legislation and Regulations will be their top priority.

For quality policy, supply quality water at the lowest affordable cost, ensure that the services and water quality provided meets the customers' requirements and expectations.

Continually enhance and improve the Quality Management System to ensure that it is appropriate and effective to achieve QMS goals & objectives,

educate and train all level of employees towards quality improvement and the awareness of IMS and provide sufficient resources to ensure the organization performs effectively and efficiently will be their main concern.

Meanwhile, health and safety policy will handle health and safety matters of responsibility and to act accordingly to prevent harm to public.





Conclusion

By implementing the methods of management from the policy from Thailand, it helps the earth by preserving the water from being abused (exp. Pollution).

That method of management also having the water sources given to the priority purpose likes drought or factory usage and helps preserve the water and environment by the same time fulfill the demand for the consumer.
