The Only Room Missing a TV

When you ring up the cable guy (or satellite guy if you prefer) to get your television(s) hooked up, you probably aren't planning on putting a connection in your bathroom, the sauna or poolside.

Having or watching TV in any of these settings isn't so bizarre, really, but who would risk getting their TV wet or ruined? But if you are now thinking that a nice soak in a bubble bath watching the latest chick flick or a pool party with a live sports game on at the same time doesn't sound so bad - you can make these scenarios a reality.

Aquavision is now selling a variety of televisions that are waterproof and specifically designed to go where other TV's cannot - wet environments. For those cautious folk who don't think it is a good idea to mix water and electricity, the Aquavision people assures consumers that their product meets all regulations for waterproofing and safety.

Technically Speaking

For the technically inclined and those seriously considering an Aquavision HD LCD Television, here are some of the facts you will want to know:

  • The screen is heated to prevent misting or fogging up of the picture.
  • Nicam Stereo
  • Don't worry about the remote control, not only is it splashproof, it floats.
  • Sizes ranges from 15"-40" widescreen
  • There are 3 screen finishes to choose from:

From the Aquavision website:

  1. Ice White - "A white ink baked onto the glass during toughening to form a very durable finish."
  2. Black Ink - Black ink is baked into the glass to give the TV a darker look.
  3. MirrorVision - You can buy a TV that doubles as your mirror. When the TV is not on the surface acts like a crystal clear looking glass. This finish is a must have when you are choosing the vanity television model that comes with the option of a built-in faucet.

More Waterproof TV's

Aquivo is another UK based company that offers TV's that they call "weatherproof" - you don't have to worry about rain, dust, the sun or high humidity levels.

If the 40" Aquavision is too small for your tastes, than the Aquivo's 55" version might be more suitable for you. And as you can see from the video, the Aquivo TV's are more than waterproof, they can take a licking from a fireman's hose too.

What a unique idea, Harmony. These TVs would probably work very well in saunas and around the swimming pool as well. That would be bringing entertainment to the next level. Great hub idea!
