Hair loss doesn’t merely apply to the hair on the top of your head. Sometimes a distressing fact of hair loss may occur in the eyebrows when they fall out or thin. Eyebrow hair loss can come about as a side-effect of cancer treatment or through natural thinning. Eyebrow regrowth is possible, in fact there are a number eyebrow regrowth options available to you.

The eyebrows are features that are often overlooked yet because they sit there in full view of everyone, if they were to disappear they would cause an enormous change to your appearance. Also, eyebrow follicles grow hair at a slower rate than the hair on top of your head so waiting for regrowth can feel as though it is taking forever.

It may be the case that the reason for the loss of your eyebrows is due to burns or other facial injury, in which case the eyebrow roots may be affected preventing natural eyebrow regrowth.


Possible Causes of Loss of Eyebrows

Eyebrows loss can be the result of one of a number of factors. Hair loss due to chemotherapy treatment is common and the eyebrow follicles are affected in the same way as other hair follicles. It may also be from too much plucking that has led to the damage of the hair follicles and bald patches are the result. Burns or scars may also lead to permanent partial or complete eyebrow loss. A hormone imbalance can affect the thickness of your hair and can sometime lead to hair loss, even eyebrow loss. Conditions such as thyroid disease and pregnancy are such situations that can lead to the eyebrows thinning. The condition known as alopecia can also lead to thinning of the eyebrows. You may simply have a hereditary hair loss condition that has also affected your eyebrows. A skin condition such as psoriasis could also lead to hair loss and eyebrow loss if that area is inflamed and you have scratched so much that it has damaged the hair follicles.

Eyebrow Regrowth Options

Eyebrows regrow at a very slow rate, much more slowly than the hair on top of your head. If you have lost your eyebrows for no apparent reason it is important to see your doctor before doing anything. There may be some underlying problem that has resulted in this hair loss.

One way to promote eyebrow regrowth is to improve your intake of vitamins which are necessary for normal eyebrow growth. If your hair follicles are healthy and you are simply trying to get your eyebrows back more quickly, protein as well as vitamins A, E and C should stimulate eyebrow growth.

A topical cream can be applied to the eyebrow area to promote regrowth. Possibly the best known hair loss treatment is Rogaine and this can be applied to the eyebrows to help the hair follicles become active and grow hair, but there are also other products available that may work too. The eyebrow regrowth formula would be applied twice daily until the new growth is noticed.

If the eyebrows are never going to grow back because the hair follicles have been completely destroyed you may have to turn to a surgical procedure such as an eyebrow transplant. In this procedure hair from the scalp is removed and transferred to the parts of the eyebrow that are bald.

If you have lost your eyebrows due to some kind of drugs that you are taking, it may be necessary to wait until the course is completed before your eyebrows will begin to grow back. Discontinuing the drugs may be a way to promote eyebrow regrowth but this should only be done after seeking the advice of your doctor.

Eyebrows are important for protecting the eyes from sweat or dust. Not only that but your appearance will also be affected by the loss of your eyebrows. There are any number of personal reasons for wanting your eyebrows back and it is only natural to want to regrow eyebrow hair.
