What Causes Heart Disease?
Heart disease is caused by a reduced flow of blood to the heart. Most cases of reduced blood flow to the heart are cause by hardening or blockage of the arteries. When the arteries become completely blocked, it can cause a heart attack, also known as myocardial infarction.
In a heart attack, some of the heart’s tissue can be damaged, a condition known as ischemic necrosis. Unfortunately, many heart attacks are fatal. Only when a patient gets to a hospital in time does that patient stand a good chance of recovery. If a patient receives an injection of magnesium sulfate within three hours of the onset of a heart attack, their chances of surviving are increased by at least 20%. If you suffer from heart disease, there are several treatments available that can help prevent a heart attack.
Treatment for Prevention of a Second Heart Attack
If you’ve already had a heart attack, your chances of having a second heart attack are high, especially if you do nothing to try to improve your condition.
If you’ve already had a previous heart attack, here are some of the treatments that may be recommended to you by your physician:
- Angioplasty or heart surgery, including bypass surgery.
- Prescription of anti-coagulant medications to keep blood from clotting.
- Prescription of drugs that reduce heart arrhythmias.

Very real and very useful. We are living in the modern time of heart problems. Not so much for the 'love related' issues, but more stress related, though.
