Ways to keep stress to a minimum
53
We all know that when events get to be too much in life and we can't cope, stress kicks in. The world we live in with people losing their homes, jobs, and life savings doesn't help matters at all. Without sounding too somber, stress can also make an appearance when you change jobs, move to another location or perhaps get married. In any event many times people turn to food, alcohol or smoking cigarettes to deal with stress and this can compound your health which stress already does.
Here a some tips and strategies that can be considered and implemented into your life.
1. SImplify your life whether at home or work by dealing with only one thing at a time.
2. Plan out family meals a week or more in advance. Do make a grocery list to eliminate last minute trips to the store.
3. Take part of a weekend to prepare meals that will last all week;freeze all meals that requires freezing.
4. Remember healthy meals usually are not complicated to prepare, so have a day or so set aside for a salad meal for dinner. Add a piece of fruit and a whole grain roll to complete this meal. (no stress here).
5. Complete more difficult tasks early in the day when you have encountered little or no stress.
6. Get at least 8 hours sleep to have a higher energy level in the morning to go head on to incoming stress.
7. Delegate work to all family members. Don't try to be a martyr and do it alone.
8. Have patience and go with the flow.

rockinjoe, don't let stress get the best of you.Things have a way of working themselves out whether they are in your control or not. And try to get some sleep.

It is a great hub my dear and sadly all so true...it can also lead to a weakened Immune system...as I know only to well...Take care each day to eat properly, take your meds, and take those vitamins and exercise...G-Ma :o) Hugs & Peace
G-Ma so very true on the very close relationship with stress and health. I just try to live by the idea that making yourself stress all the time is not going to change anything. I think just placing positive energy into thought will help with situations working themselves out. We only go around once as we are now in this place and time. Take care.
These tips couldn't have come in a more opportune time! but i'm not gonna tell why or what's stressing me! LOL thanks for sharing :D
Chris A, you don't have to say a word (lol), just take care and have a good time and enjoy life...and all it has to offer.

#6- Sleep is key in my life, but being a dad and having a job where I'm always on call, kind of makes a good sleep a rare occurence. But if I get my eight, even better ten hours, I'm a warrior!
I here you, it makes the biggest difference in the world. Take care.
Many very good suggestions. I would only note that every job I have ever had, especially in the corporate world, absolutely demanded multi-tasking. Doing things one at a time was never an option.
ColdWarBaby, I do agree with you somewhat on multitasking to get a job done. The job I had before I retired was just that, and to me and to others it was challenging. All in all It's up to each indiviual and what they can handle comfortably. Thanks gfor your comments. AHve a great day!
Good hub!
