Ways to make money on a shoe string budget

Some of my favorite work at home ideas are:

Pet sitting, watch other peoples pets while they are out of town. Or pet walking

Move in specialist - help new owners of a home or apartment with painting and cleaning of the house so it will be fresh and move-in ready, or haul away trash and unwanted items. All you need is a bucket, water, soap and maybe a paint brush.

Resale peoples unwanted items- run an ad in the paper, pick up people's unwanted items for free and then take a picture of it and put it on craigslist for sale. all you need is a truck and a camera.

Water gardens - let the neighbors know that you will be able to build a water garden or water feature for them in their backyard. all need is water pump, rocks and maybe some fish is you a make a pond.

House cleaning- this never goes out of style, clean dishes, vacuum, straighten room, people will pay to have a clean house.

Home Chef- provide a service where you cook meals for people in their own kitchens, you show up with the recipe and ingredients and they provide the cookware and kitchen.

City Tour Guide - offer to show those new or visiting out of town, all the hot spots and eatery's in your area that you recommend. City tours are the best you can bring a small group together and jump on the trolley and stop at local hot spots.

Recycling Service - offer to help small business owners with recycling of their plastic bottles or cans, small fitness centers would be a good start, since many of the clients drink tons of water and sports drinks, offer to leave a bin and pick it up when full.

Become a Consultant - offer to become a personal coach, mentor or assistant, help people find work as a job coach, or help people write business plans as a business coach, or help people with internet marketing as a web coach, whatever you can do and show someone else how to do it to.

Virtual Assistant - if you have many years experience working in a office and you like to type reports, make follow up calls, schedule travel arrangements, send emails, write minutes, set up meetings and assist the executive director than you can do the same thing from your home computer, for small business executives.

Career Coach help people find work, dress for success, prepare resumes, career change options all from the comfort of your own home.

Web Content Finder- small business owners and website owners need information for their websites, if your good at research and spend a lot of time on the Internet you can be a helpful resource for them.

Scanner Service - offer to scan photos of peoples old photographs, now all those photo albums collecting dust in people's homes can be scanned into a computer by you and transmitted electronically.

Type Manuscripts - self published authors have a lot of material that they need typed up, you can proofread and type up written word and put it into a word format for easy publishing.

Cup Cake Service - offer to delivery cupcakes to the local businesses in your area, print up a brochure and let them know that you accept daily call in requests and that you can provide cup cakes for their next meeting.

Home Entertainment Agent- you could provide a service that will allow people to entertain in their homes with live musicians, stand up comedy, or live bands. You find the bands and charge a service fee to book them to play at peoples homes.

Landscaping and gardening - if you have a green thumb and like to plant, offer to plant flowers or trim bushes for seniors or those who can not get out in the yard much.

Delivery service, everyone likes to have things delivered to them, you could deliver groceries, or other items to help save others time and money.

Run errands - pick up mail, drop off dry cleaning, personal shopper, or pickup food from a restaurant.

Fax lunch menus to local businesses- find local cafe's, or burger, or sandwich shops and offer to fax their menus to local businesses.

Home parties- offer to decorate or send out invitations, catering services for those in your local neighborhood that are having anniversary parties, bridal showers, birthday parties or baby showers.

Reading Service - for students offer to read their class textbooks for them and provide short outlines for the chapters for a small fee. This will save them time and help them finish homework assignments.

Abandoned House Locator- all you need is a camera and drive around your local neighborhood and take pictures of any abandoned, distressed or boarded up houses, write down the cross streets and then provide the information to real estate investors and rehabbers.
