Bills need to be paid... The children need money for college expenses... It's been a long time since you've been on a meaningful vacation... A drivable car is needed to commute... Medical bills are amounting... Student loans are wrecking your chances of saving money... The list goes on and on...

How do you find money when you don't have any? There are many ways where you can do this without spending money. Money that doesn't have to be repaid is called an asset. Money can be found in a number of places. All it takes is a little know-how when going about finding ways. Yet so many people are constantly wrecking their brains trying to figure out how they can get their hands on extra money. Here is a list of ways where a person can "earn" money without robbing a bank.

  • Host a yard sale and profit from unwanted items. This is one way to get money that isn't hard to do. All it takes is finding items in your home that you don't want or don't use and selling them to people who may have a need for them. This works out for both parties. Your customers will win because they found an item they may be looking for but couldn't find. It also helps that they are able to save money in the process. You win because you earned extra money.
  • Pawn old jewelry and keep the money. This age-old technique is still useful in today's society to gain money or to sell money. Many people have jewelry that may not fit you anymore or has become outdated. Pawn jewelers sometimes burn old gold, silver, and copper pieces to reshape it. They resell pawned jewelry to people who are looking for low cost accessories. This includes earrings, bracelets, and charms.
  • Locate small trees from woods and resell for profit. Have you ever noticed that plants and shrubbery improves the outlook of a home or apartment? You can make money by selling them with garden pottery. Go to the library and study on the different plant varieties to get a thorough understanding of what plants are all about before doing this moneymaking project.
  • Gather driftwood from woods and sell as firewood for money. This works better during the colder months such as December, January, and February. If you live in cold atmospheres such as the northeastern and northwestern portions of the United States, this may prove to be a money winner. Target your market to elderly and disabled people who don't have the strength or health to tackle cutting wood.
  • Offer your services as a handyman to increase profits. If you're a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to repair work, this may the option that helps you the most when making more money. Most everyone needs something fixed. A lawnmower, television, radio, or some other form of appliance may need fixing. Perhaps someone will need his or her toilet or heater fixed on. This works best if you do this as a hobby as this shouldn't interfere with your normal nine to five job.
  • Start a lawn care company on the side for easy money. Lawn care has grown rapidly. Now more than ever, many people are turning to this moneymaker to pay bills. All it takes to get started is a good running lawnmower, a weed trimmer, and a blower. After you've reinvested in gas, the rest of the money is all yours! Later on you can add to your equipment should you decide to expand your services.
  • Gather pine straws and make money by the bundle. Many people use pine straw for landscaping. However, not many people have knowledge that this is a great money treasure. If you live in an area where pine straw is abundant, use a rake and twine to gather and package the pine straw. Make sure the pine straw is free from dirt, mud, and other things that can make the straw look bad.
  • Offer typing services to college students and professionals for profit. If you have a computer and word processing software, then you have half of what you'll need. Having this equipment will help you save money in overhead. This works best if you are living near a college or professional office. Use the Internet to find free courses where you can improve your word count for typing. The more words you can type per minute, the more money you can make.
  • Hold exercise classes and charge money. If you have a good-sized room or basement area that you're not presently using, this healthy technique can really put cash in your pockets. Make it a goal to have around ten people in your class. Make sure that you are in shape yourself and you are giving good advice on exercising.
  • Hold a class that teaches people how to dance to make money. If you know how to ballroom, street, or some other form of dance, then hold a class. This works out well if there are many places in your area where people will use these dances (clubs, bars, social gatherings, etc.) Make sure to have plenty of space because you may have around ten or more people to teach.
  • Paint houses for profit. Many people just don't have the time it takes to paint the exterior walls of their home. This is where you can fit in. Offer to paint the exterior as well as the interior to increase profits. You can even gather a good quality mix of paint hue slips from hardware stores such as Lowe's or Home Depot, then offer to purchase and paint the walls. Make sure to charge enough to cover the paint, gas, and food you will need.
  • Host a class on how to make Arts and Crafts. This moneymaker works well if you live in a senior citizen area or near a place where a lot or retiree's live. Sewing, quilting, painting, writing, and other crafts are just a few examples of subjects to teach. Many people love to learn how to do these things to occupy their time. Don't forget to adjust your fees to cover supplies.
  • Hold music lessons to earn money. If you are musically inclined, then this may the route you will want to take to make extra money. Piano, guitar, violin, songwriting, and reading musical notes are skills to teach. Market your services in music publications. The summer months are great to teach kids in school the proper techniques to improve their craft. Research to see what's the going rate for this type of service in your area.
  • Create a garden to sell produce for extra money. This works out well considering the cost these days with produce. The customer can save money by buying direct. Since you have a smaller scale with your garden, it makes it easier to manage it. Make sure to read when the best time to plant whatever you want to grow is. A roadside stand works well in this case. Make sure to pick a corner where there's plenty of traffic and stick with the same location. Sooner than you think, you'll have regulars stop by to purchase what you have.
  • Take advantage of holidays to receive more money. Christmas candles made from paraffin wax, cakes, pies, greeting cards and other holiday items are best done at least a month and a half to two months prior to the holiday you plan on selling them on. You can find a place on the side of the road and sell these items or you can sell them to people you know for easy profits.

Gathering money doesn't have to be hard or strenuous. All it takes is a little hard work, persistence, and the will to achieve what you set out to do. By trying anyone of these ways, there shouldn't be any reason why you can't find ways to make more money.

  • James Surowiecki: Caveat Mortgagor

In 1937, the Massengill Company began selling a health product called Elixir Sulfanilamide, which contained one of the antibiotic sulfa drugs. Unfortunately, it also contained diethylene glycol, a solvent that happens to be deadly to humans. In a matter of months, the elixir killed more than a hundred consumers. • Will gas prices pump up inflation?

How fast the world turns. Only a few months ago, as consumer spending evaporated and commodity prices collapsed, investors and policymakers were haunted by the spectre of deflation. Today, with the economy showing some signs of bottoming and commodity prices back on the rise, the worry du jour has suddenly#160;.#160;.#160;. - 4 weeks ago

  • James Surowiecki: Argentina's great coin shortage.

As you walk into the Retiro train station in downtown Buenos Aires these days, you pass a long line of people snaking their way from the station#8217;s entrance to a single window. At first glance, this is unsurprising: what#8217;s more common than a queue in a train station? But there#160;.#160;.#160;. - 6 weeks ago

When Citigroup and Bank of America held their annual meetings last month, shareholders were in an understandably surly mood. Even as the companies#8217; C.E.O.s apologized for past failures and vowed to do better, shareholders blasted the executives for their incompetence, and talked about the need for dramatic change. Amid the blizzard of economic data that the government puts out every week, last Tuesday#8217;s report analyzing G.D.P. industry by industry got little notice. In the late nineteen-twenties, two companies--Kellogg and Post--dominated the market for packaged cereal. It was still a relatively new market: ready-to-eat cereal had been around for decades, but Americans didn#8217;t see it as a real alternative to oatmeal or cream of wheat until the twenties#160;.#160;.#160;. - 3 months ago

Not long ago, many of America#8217;s biggest banks made terrible bets on overpriced real estate and suffered huge losses. Great Job!

However, we live in a world today where money and debt hinders or frees people. Debt is like jail!

I am a mission to save as many people as I can and help them get out of debt. Want to join me?? Sounds like we have the same attitudes.

Thanks for your hub.

Good job. There used to be an old saying that we don't here anymore. I think it sprung from the Depression era. "If you can't find a job . . . make one!"

Excellent tips! People have forgotten how to be creative, and use the head for more than a hat-rack when times are hard. We've lived in such an "instant and pampered" society for sooooo long!

I love your advice, I just don't think their is one i can use, and I'm really in a bind. All I have is 2 dollars to my name, no job, an 11 month old son, my fiancee's in prison, I have no phone, no car, am short on possesions and soon may not have a place to live. I feel like I'm going no where, since the all the apps. I filled out were to the number i no longer have, because I couldn't pay the bill. The worst part of it all, is that I'm 19, have a limited job experience, and a family who isn't willing to help. . . . In some cases all you can do is prey. ...God Bless you for taking your time out to try and help people. -Angel-
