Do you believe in Santa?

Have you ever heard of the very global Santa fan club called We Believe In Santa? Well, I’ve appointed myself the unofficial official Prezident so all of the faithful can get better organized and stay in touch. We are a very large loosely organized organization worldwide. We are quite pleased to have retained most of our members since childhood.

From time to time there are those children who have lost their faith. Well-meaning older siblings and adults thought they were telling the children the truth about Santa: that he doesn’t really exist. Those of us with faith know that just isn’t true. How do we know it to be true? We see Santa all year ‘round! I have the photos to prove it too.

Santa photographed worldwide

Santa fans worldwide have taken photos of Santa when he was also vacationing in the summer. Santa is quite the world traveler. He has been sighted in America, Canada, Finland, Spain, France, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Brazil, Australia and Africa just to name a few. Our most loyal Santa fans are from these countries, have remained true to him and are now sharing photos of him with all of us to enjoy this season. Flickr was kind enough to host all these many pages of Santa photos for our club We Believe In Santa.

Global public relations program launched annually

Every year we launch a public relations program to bring our former believers back home into the fold.  Every year we are immensely successful as we discovered that all they really needed was to be asked to come home.  Secretly, they always believed but were afraid of ridicule from the dreaded unbelievers.

Harsh unbelievers

Unbelievers can be quite harsh and judgmental. Try to be kind and understanding toward them; we are. That’s our unofficial official motto. Try to understand how hard life has been for them. That harshness really comes from disappointment when their hope and joy was crushed by others who were ridiculing them for their faith.

So, today because of their past hurt and anger they dump that bad attitude onto everyone else who does believe. Their mission becomes one of trying to crush new people with the same hope they once had. Once there was a time when they too possessed that inexplicable joy of simply experiencing life and loving others unconditionally. Note to the faithful to keep in mind so you don’t lose your joy: destroying faith in others still does not destroy the truth.

Holiday season

This is the time of year when people turn their attention to the holiday season. It is also the time of year when the grumpy ones start grousing about how Santa is a myth. As the faithful all we have to do is whip out all our global Santa photos to cheer them up. This is the season of goodwill. Goodwill is our most official duty toward unbelievers who lost their way in life. Be kind. Be loving. Be patient.

Giving goodwill vs. buying gifts

Why run to the mall to buy hordes of Christmas presents, stress out rushing around to get “things” and put yourself deeper in debt in a bad economy? Why not join the We Believe In Santa fan club for free? The presents of the heart are precious ones you can easily give away. Everyone can afford them as it costs no money. The gift of goodwill toward others is priceless, easy and a gift of great joy.

Spread Jesus’ goodwill message

Let’s make sure the message of Jesus’ goodwill doesn’t smother under all the holiday wrappings of commercialism. This is the season to remember the man Santa’s goodwill represents: Jesus Christ. It was Jesus who reminded us all to give each other goodwill, tolerance and respect no matter what faith or lack of it. Let’s spread some goodwill this season. Santa would be proud as it was Jesus’ teachings that prompted his generosity toward others in the form of gift-giving.

Holiday greetings

Feliz Navidad! Merry Christmas! Joyeux Noël! Buon Natale!

Included is a perfect poem for this holiday season. CJ Beige is a friend and a wonderful fellow poet who writes from his heart. He is also here at HubPages.

My Gift To You

To you I give my hand in peace,

To walk with on this earth,

To you I give a heart of joy,

I've carried from my birth.

To you I lend a helping hand,

A shoulder for your tear,

A gift of truth and admiration,

My gift you should not fear.

My gift I give with tender love,

With strings, forever gone,

Deep inside my heart to you,

There's friendship our life long.

Update 2 weeks after I wrote this article:  Since we don't have any children, I just found out about this great Santa site where (for a small price) they write personalized Santa letters to your children.  How cool is that?  I should have known they would be based in Las Vegas, home of the large annual Santa run.  A lot of the group Santa photos were from that event.  Here's the site:  www.Santa-Claus.com

Here's a link to the Hubpages article where I found it too as it explains the site and is a good article as well!  This Christmas, Send a Child a Letter Directly From Santa Claus Gift

To me Satna embodies the attributes that human folk truly need; the spirit of love and forgiveness, the spirit of giving, not just things, but of self, and the challenge to never, NEVER lose sight of the child that dwells deep within each of us.

Thank you Sorcha!  You are so very right!  Even Jesus asked us not to forsake the little children.  I've often thought he was talking in his usual double meanings.  He wanted us to be good to children but also to retain that child-like enthusiasm of faith and awestruck wonderment of life.  Thanks for posting.

Also a big thank-you to all who loved the Santa photos as I hoped you would. As of this writing over 587 views of those photos!

Santa is worlds biggest lie parents around the world tell their children but it is not considered lie. Children are very disappointed when they find out. It's the same story with the tooth fairy too. I believe we are teaching our children it's ok to lie.

It's interesting the reactions to the Santa archetype. We come at it from many directions. Those who are disgusted with the Santa image, I think, are reacting to the overcommercialization of Christmas - which I agree is disgraceful and just plain cheesy at times.

Believing in Santa as a man is, well, silly. That's where kids do get disappointed when they find out he isn't flesh and blood but a symbol of an ideal. Children think in concrete terms and it can be difficult to grasp an abstract concept.

The people who do find joy in the concept are those who see/believe in Santa as an image of generosity and goodwill toward others. That's the real magic of "believing" in Santa in my book.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone! Much appreciated!

Thanks for the reminder that there is more to Christmas than presents bought in the store. I will spread a little good will this year and encourage others to believe in Santa.

Hi, Nayberry! Thanks for stopping by to visit. You are now officially crowned a goodwill warrior. Go forth and conquer all the bad atittude in the world. I just know you will be quite successful!

Hi, AEvans! Yes, sometimes the holidays can get us down - we have all been there from time to time, myself included. No matter what is going on in our lives it always helps us as much as the other guy to reach out and touch another.

It doesn't have to be a huge moment that requires an enormous amount of emotional effort, maybe just something small like a short conversation with someone new while we go about our daily routine. You never know until much later that moment of interest or kindness helped to stave off a serious depression or loneliness for someone.

Sometimes it's good to just be there for a few moments to get another past their current crisis. You don't have to be there for the whole crisis - just a moment. God will send others to give their moments too and before they know it the crisis is over. Now that's a mission accomplished! :)

Well won't we have fun this next Christmas. I know an elf named Newl E. Grimes. I wrote about him in one of my hubs. It is unpublished at the moment waiting for the new season in November. Maybe then you will meet him.

Hi, ralwus, thanks for visiting! Why not keep your Christmas hub published? It can take up to six months for search engines to establish it well. Look forward to reading yours this season. HoHoHo! :)

Katie  says:

Haha, it's so funny..cuz one year when I was about 9 or 10, I was a bit suspicious one Christmas morning when the letter left by Santa looked a little like my Dad's writing.

I was even more suspicious when next year the letter was TYPED instead of handwritten after I'd confronted my father about this.

I'm 13 now, and my parents have long before told me that the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny do NOT exist. Yet they continue to tell me that Santa is real. Mom says she's seen him.

And every year, I say I'm going to hide and see who's putting the gifts under the tree. Never any luck.

Oh well, the most important thing is Jesus Christ, and I guess the mysteriousness of Santa whether he's real or not makes it all the more fun.

Denny Lyon  says:

Hi, Katie, your parents sound pretty cool! Could be they are on a first name basis with Santa. Remember, it's a kid's duty to keep the parents sharp and you are definitely keeping them on their toes. What a treasure you are! Keep laughing and, you never know, you might get lucky with that Santa sighting! Thanks for visiting.
