The Benefits of a Job Well Done

"There's no ther company that offers what we have" says Karl Bessey, president & cofounder of Wealth Masters International. This is a broad comment that can span a number of WMI distinctions: its product line, its compensation planor,in this instance, its rewards & incentives program

Unconventional Rewards

When companies refer to their incentives & rewards program, they're usually talking about trips & money. It's proven & solid. But at Wealth Masters International it usually doesn't play out like that. Both Kip Herriage & Karl Bessey, co-founders of WMI, are big believers who reward people who build their company. "We always go on feedback from our members to make sure that we're giving things that really inspire people & that they're proud of & can use." says Karl Bessey.

So they've learned to be flexible & change their incentives as their consultants' needs change. "What we did for the first few years was give away trips. We gave away cruises to Greece, the Caribbean & Hawaii, " says Karl. Because WMI terms itself the "lifestyle company" , they tried to help consultants create a fabulous lifestyle experience.

However, the passionate WMI consultants were interested in more than just vacations. "We quit doing trips as rewards a few months ago. Frankly, we do so much travelling with the business model we have, we're going on 4 or 5 trips a year just with the business involved" Karl says. WMI has 3 conferences a year plus marketing events across the country. So while earning a trip is an exciting reward, the idea of leaving town again after just returning from another tripisn't always appealing. "A lot of times people just came back from a trip, & most of us want to come home & produce & do what we do."

Now, is this just a little bit of company-speak? Not at all. Turns out, these aren't your ordinary business trips. First, the events occur in highly desireable locationsin the United States or as far away as Budapest, Hungary. And, once there, its a lot more than just a company event.

"We go early & stay late," Karl Says. "So when we go to an event, it's not just fly in, go to the event, & hurry up & fly home. I mean, we have people who develop some lifelong friendships. You meet incredible people at these events, people who are going to be your friends forever. You're going to be able to meet your mentors, and then to top it off, it's a vacation in itself. When you attend all the events throughout the year & you arrive early & stay late, then your life is kind of like one, big, perpetual vacation.

Tangible Benefits

So WMI changed the format of the rewards to include more tangible benefits. A good example of one of WMI's tangibles is a $10,000 rolex watch awarded to the top consultant at the M2 conference at Las Vegas in July. Second place was $5000 of the golden eaglr gold coins, & third place was $3000 of the silver eagle coins. Not cash, exactly, but rewards that can grow in value. WMI& its employees like the gold & silver idea.

"We're big time into precious metals," Karl says. "We've been telling people to buy gold & silver for three or four years, back when it was $400 an ounce. We looked at this & thought, 'This is a no-brainer; we can give them gold & silver.' And from what we see over the next several years, they're going to make pretty good money if they hang onto it."

Then there are the quarterly awards for WMI top achievers. "We give awards for top M1 sales sales every quarter. We give them gift certificates to the store of their choice," Karl says. "For instance, maybe they want to spend $5000 at a certain store. We allot an amount & contact the people, find out what store they'd loke a gift certificate for & they go on a shopping spree. " Not cash to pay of debts or put aside for a rainy day, but money you must spend at a certain store.

Nods of Recognition

As much as WMI like the rewards & incentives, they also deeply appreciate the recognition. As Karl says, "To have your name called, then go onstage & walk away with an award, just to be recognized in front of your peers is big for any professional marketer."

This recognition is reinforced with a plaque along with write-ups at the WMI website & features in its newsletter. "Monthly, quarterly for every event we have a special page on our website. where you can go & look at our recognized consultants," Karl Says. "We put them in the spotlight so all other consultants can see them."

Investing in the Future

WMI regards its generous incentives & rewards programs as money well-spent towards the future of their success. "We love recognizing & rewarding people who are growing our company, & we'll, always do that," Karl says. "We're all about giving back & making the world a better place, & we're always going to always make sure that the people who are building our company are taken care of."

And if the current rewards & incentives lose their appeal? WMI will poll the consultants & determine what's best. WMI, realizes that, above all, happy consultants make for a successful enterprise.
