Some people decorate their houses with the American flag for the 4th of July, others more daring prefer to wear the flag.  Whether it is on a t-shirt, a baseball cap, a beach towel, or a dress, the American flag has been a source of inspiration for many fashionists.  Have a look and tell me if you would dare to wear any of these little numbers.

It was not that long ago when you could get arrested for wearing the flag as clothing. I am also proud to say (?) the top post on your wall of shame link was taken in the city in which I reside. I enjoyed your hub.

I wouldn't wear an oufit with the American Flag, but there is beauty in creativity and freedom which several of the garments designed express.

Enjoyed your hub.

There are always two sides of a coin, from the creativity aspect of the dress design i love it. However in my country i think i know no one who would be interested in wearing the indian flag. Interesting post by the way princessa, i never knew of such designs prior to reading the post.

I think people were arrested when they cut up actual American flags for clothing to make a protest statement in teh 1970s, then cloth distributors stocked materials in flag colors and designs and got around all that. Jo-Ann Fabrics used to have half their large store stocked in these materials. lol

Anyway - I like the first 4th of July wedding dress pictured. I would wear it.

Great Hub!

My mom bought this hat for me at Disneyland with the flag on it, and it is cute, but I would never really wear it outside of the house.  The one fun thing I remember about it though is you can get your name embroidered on your hat at the Mad Hatter Shop, so it is a fun souvenir really.  Sometimes I used to wear it around the house on the Fourth of July, and sometimes I used to wear it when I went running where no one could see me.

Also, just wanted to share with Patty that Jo-Ann Fabrics still caries a large variety of Fourth of July fabric and over items. I got there at least once a month, so I see all the stuff :). Great hub Princessa!

Nice photo gallery. In India wearing the national flag is considered an insult to the flag and you could be fined or even prosecuted.

Thanks for stopping to comment. I don't think I would wear an American flag (or indeed any other country's flag) mainly because I prefer plain outfits to patterned ones; but I wouldn't mind wearing that wonder woman outfit for a special party :)

I guess everyone has their own taste. Luckily we live in a country where freedom has been bought at a price so that others may wear that flag as some here in the pictures have done!
