I write web/sales copy for a number of my websites.

Getting the copy right is the difference between earn very little and earning thousands of pounds/dollars.

It is very difficult to write excellent sales copy for websites without a lot of experience.

However, there is an easy way to get started.

I discovered Maria Veloso's fantastic book: 'Web Copy That Sells' late last year and since then I always refer to it while writing/creating a new website.

Her ideas of balancing out the copy are spot on, she includes lot's of examples of successful copy, and guides you step by step in creating your very own webcopy.

If you are creating your own website then I highly recomment this book as I certainly couldn't live without it myself!
