Web Entrepreneur Should Know HTML Code Text.
64HTML IS CODING
Learning HTML
If you are going to be conducting business online perhaps you should have a basic knowledge of HTML. HTML is hyper text mark-up language. HTML is what is used to produce websites, as well as other programming languages such as JavaScript. Basic HTML would allow you to be able to enter links, or enter tables, or perhaps text boxes. Another point an entrepreneur should consider is keeping down cost. It is no secret that if you want to succeed in business you need to keep your overhead down. So if you know HTML you could do a lot of your own programming on your web projects and save money.
When I started to run businesses online I had no idea what HTML was, or what it did. I have since come to believe that I definitely needed to be acquainted with basic HTML. And after awhile I came to believe I needed to have an inmate knowledge of HTML. So I started to study HTML.
It is not hard to learn HTML as there is a lot of information available on the subject. I first went to the library in my town and got a book on the subject. After reading the book, I decided I wanted to learn more so I did a search on the inter net. My search revealed a great website to learn HTML which is W3C school. They have some wonderfully informative classes which you can study at your leisure and the best part is it is free. You can also learn about CSS (cascading style sheets) there also. They also offer you the opportunity to learn other programming languages at W3C schools.
Being new to this programming language I sometimes could not understand what W3C was saying. So I sought out a easier to understand HTML tutorial center called HTML.net. I really like what they do there, I even use this site to this day. I am not trying to take away from the site, but it was laid out in simple terminology with great, easily to understand examples. After a short search on Google I was able to find other HTML tutorial sites. Another option open to you is to attend a vocational school, or a college, or take private class to learn about HTML. I even found some excellent classes delivered by email from About.com. Web designer Jennifer Kyrnin brings these classes right to your inbox. I took her course and found it very informative.
I was impressed by a email Jennifer sent me, she made a great point. If you are a web designer, or if you are into building a lot of websites perhaps you should have your own reseller account(see references). I myself have a reseller account for those reasons. I am a web designer and I build websites for myself as well as others. And I have used the knowledge I have learned about HTML many times.
You do not need to spend money to be able to write HTML unless you want to spend the money. You can write HTML in Notepad or Wordpad. They come with Word and are free to use. I write all of my HTML in Notepad. I went this way so I would be able to learn the language better. I also use Notepad to write my CSS. I have never went with any of the WYSIWYG developer programs like Komodo, Dreamweaver. I do not see anything wrong with these developers. I just wanted to learn HTML and write the programs myself. If you are pressed for time using a WYSIWYG developer maybe the way for you. I personally just enjoy writing code and just use Notepad.
W3 Consortium has laid out rules to help make web design more universal for all browsers. So you should always follow the the recommendations of W3 Consortium when writing your HTML code. And HTML is at this time evolving into xhtml. Xhtml is basically the same as HTML, but has a few change in what identifies you use when writing code. W3 Consortium has provided a way for you to make sure your code is up to snuff. They have provided, for free a validator to make sure you code is correct. The Firefox browser now provides a validator also. You can also validate your CSS as well as HTML.
In closing I truly believe if you are going to be an online presence you should learn HTML. And not just basic HTML, but go as far as you can in your knowledge of HTML. I have saved myself a lot of money by not having to hire someone to do my HTML programming for me. I have always enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment I get by writing my own HTML code.
