Everyone wants to have the perfect traditional wedding cake – the ultimate symbol of the extravagance of your wedding day and in some ways a scale version of the expensive wedding dress brides lust after from an early age. Those who prefer the simple elegance of white cakes needn’t settle for plain taste. There are a number of white cakes available with exceptional flavor. Increasingly popular are chocolate cakes, vanilla flavored cakes and almond flavored cakes are becoming increasingly popular. Breaking with tradition can be fun and may lead to inexpensive wedding cakes.

Breaking with tradition opens up a whole world of cake options, such as fruitcakes and carrot cakes. Covered in a thick layers of icing, these distinctive cakes have all the style of a traditional wedding cake and the decadence of a truly delicious flavor. Tiramisu, a rich Italian dessert, is a more luxurious addition to a wedding cake. Even decorated cheesecakes are growing in popularity.

Popular Wedding Cake Flavors

Changing the type of cake isn’t the only way to add flavor and personality to a wedding cake. Many are adding different fillings to their cakes, such as fruit-flavored fillings, rich cream fillings, and even liqueur-based fillings. This adds another level of flavor to otherwise traditional seeming cakes.

Why not dispense with convention altogether and go for a fun, more memorable cake flavor? Strawberry and lemon flavors add zest to a wedding cake. Some brides even get fruity with an orange or banana flavored cake, injecting personality into what they see as a drab tradition.

Rich, flavors are also popular choices for wedding cakes. Chocolate is a popular flavor along with the less obvious Red velvet cake, Kahlua, and delicious Mexican chocolate.

Even more options exist for your choice of wedding cake icing.
