No matter where you have your wedding, there are only two types of weddings: an inside wedding or an outside wedding. Decorating for either (or for both) can sometimes be a challenge as there are differences in the two.

Outdoor Wedding Decor & Tips:

For example, if you decide on an outdoor wedding location you will need to plan for bad weather by providing an alternate shelter if it rains. If you don't know where to start contact a local party rental store. If you rent from them directly they will put up any sized tent you need and come back after the wedding to remove it. Another nuisance with outdoor weddings can be the wind, especially if you are having a beach wedding. If you've chosen a beautiful beach for your wedding spot, consider setting everything up in a cove where you will be protected from direct wind.

Outdoor wedding decor is usually simplistic. The whole idea of an outside wedding is to enjoy and appreciate nature. Couples that choose outdoor weddings usually enjoy being outside whether it be a favorite garden, a beautiful beach setting, or your own backyard. When getting outdoor wedding decoration ideas, keep it simple and let nature speak for itself. The best way to add some great design to an outdoor wedding is a decorated garden arch. These can be rented from party rental stores, borrowed from a neighbor, bought at most garden stores, or from craft stores such as Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. Decorating these with tulle, balloons, flowers, or lights is a great way to add some style and beauty to the scene. Chair covers are another way to add some beauty to your wedding ceremony and wedding reception decor. These can be purchased or made custom, but really add to the overall blend of your theme.

If your wedding takes place in the late evening you will need lights. For beach themed weddings customized sack lanterns can be used to light the walk ways as well as tiki torch lanterns. This type of lighting sets a romantic, but casual feel to any wedding. Garden weddings look best when lit up with garden type lights. Many brides are now choosing to use the eco-friendly solar powered garden lights because they require no cords and are cost effective. "Christmas" lights are also used to wrap around trees and accent other garden features.

Indoor Wedding Decor And Tips:

Planning for an inside wedding is sometimes a bit easier than fighting the elements outside, but there are still a couple of things to keep in mind. First, be sure to ask the venue how many people the facility can accommodate. If you have decided on inviting 500 people and the location only holds 200 you will have to find a larger venue or cut your invitation list.

Just like outdoor lighting, indoor lighting is something you need to consider. Does the location you have chosen provide adequate lighting? There's nothing worse than bad lighting during your big day. If you've chosen a facility with not-so-good lighting consider hiring someone to bring in extra lighting. You will have to get the ok from the venue director, but it's worth it if you have great looking pictures afterward. If extra lighting is not allowed or out of your budget just step outside to take group photos.

When planning an indoor wedding things can get a bit tricky. You want to decorate, but not smother the area you've chosen. After all you don’t want to cover up what initially attracted you to the location. Churches are frequently chosen for nuptial exchange and are quite simple to decorate. A great way to spiffy up this area is to add pew decorations. These decorations can include flowers, ribbon, lace, pearls, and linens. Any type of flowers can be used for your church pew decor, but an inexpensive route would be to use daisies, tulips, or carnations. Cheap wedding decorations do not have to look cheap after all. Another popular decoration idea for an inside wedding is using columns and gossamer fabric. Wrap the fabric around one column and over to the other column and create a custom arch. You can also have a more natural arch by using a fresh flower swag instead of the gossamer fabric.

Popular Indoor & Outdoor Wedding Decor Themes:

It's sometimes hard to pick a specific theme for your wedding, so I wanted to throw in a few popular wedding themes to help you get some additional ideas. You should always pick your wedding theme around your personality. If you are a fun loving person it is ok to have a fun wedding. What's important is making your day perfect for you and your soon-to-be hubby.

Garden Weddings are very popular in the spring and summer months of the year. These weddings are very simplistic usually and use the garden as their most appreciated decoration. Wedding table decorations for a garden wedding can be more elaborate, but keep the overall look and feel simple and crisp. Outside wedding decor for this theme can consist of a huge variety of flowers including roses, daisies, hyacinth, and lilies. The colors that are most used are sage green, lavender, pinks, and white/cream, but you are free to go with whatever colors you choose. This theme is perfect for the classy sophisticated bride to be.

Beach themed weddings are also a very popular choice for brides. Whether you are getting married on the beach or just giving that illusion with decorations, beach themes usually include plenty of paper lanterns or tiki torches, palm trees, and seashells. Brides usually use bold tropical colors for beach themed weddings. There are also many indoor beach wedding decorations to choose from to liven up your wedding day, including grass skirts for your tables and yourself, coconuts, and beach themed huts. This type of wedding is perfect for the romantic fun loving type of bride.

Another bride favorite is the fantasy or fairytale wedding theme. These wedding incorporate many different types of decorations depending on the tastes of the bride and groom. You can use fantasy decorations such as dragons, faeries, and unicorns for a truly unique service and reception decor. On the other hand, fairytale weddings are usuallly based on Disney movie classics such as Cinderella or Beauty and the Beast. For these popular themes you could incorporate a full size stage coach, glass slippers, or large red rose centerpieces. You and your prince charming will certainly live happily ever after with a fairytale wedding.

Finally, the western themed wedding is perfect for any country cowgirl and cowboy. There are a number of places to have your wedding. Wide open prairies are very popular as are old country churches and wild west towns. Some old west towns offer wedding packages that are perfect for western weddings. Decorations for these weddings are often kept simple. Buy cowboy hats for your table centerpieces and line the inside with flowers or decorate several old kerosene lamps and set them in the middle of the tables. Whatever you decide, don't forget your cowboy boots when you ride off into the sunset.

There are so many more wedding themes to choose from, but these are my favorites. Don't limit yourself to what everyone else is doing, because this is your day and should be set around something that means a lot to you. What are you into, what are your hobbies, what do you like to do? Answering those questions is usually a very good place to start when deciding on wedding decor and wedding themes.

Now no matter where you have your wedding, whether it is in or out doors, hopefully now you have some great wedding decoration ideas to lessen the stress. Remember to keep their differences in mind and you are sure to have the wedding you’ve always dreamed of free of unexpected surprises.

I think outdoor garden weddings are so beautiful. I just never muscled up the courage to risk the weather issue. But the photos from those who do are usually fantastic.
