Wedding Heels Advice
64For brides considering different heel heights for their wedding heels, here is a list of things to consider along with a guide to finding the best wedding shoes in all different heights.
Before you buy
Before you buy your wedding shoes, think through the following things so you can narrow down your choices. Browsing online is a good way, but if you have your criteria set, you will have a much easier time finding what you want.
1. Height: How tall do you want to be? How tall is your fiancé? Consider both of your heights and think through how tall you want to stand on your big day. This will determine whether or not you buy low heels or high heels.
2. Comfort: Remember, one of the key things is to be very comfortable on your wedding day. You will wear these shoes all day so you don’t want them hurting your feet early on. There are many brands that are making more comfortable shoes these days like the Cole Haan Nike Air shoes. These shoes have extra padding similar to what Nike uses in their running shoes. Other brands that are usually very comfortable include Carlos Santana and Aerosoles. Even if you do not purchase a brand that is comfortable to begin with, don’t forget, you can add shoe pads to any shoe to make them easier on your feet. Foot Petals makes an excellent line of shoe pads for anything you need.
3. Color: What color are you considering? If you want pink wedding shoes, then you will have to look around a bit more since less shoes are made in pink. If you’re looking for metallic shoes, then definitely look during the winter season when many metallic shoes for evening parties are in stock. Either way, whatever color or colors you choose to look for, narrow this down early so everyone in your bridal party can help you look.
4. What you usually wear: Finally, in terms of heels, consider what you normally wear. Are you a flats girl that wears either nice flats or flip flops? Or do you wear heels all the time and have a closet full of stilettos and Manolos? Whatever your preference, think through what you are used to and try not to go more than 1 and a half inch above this. Remember, every half inch that you go up in heel height will cause your feet to hurt earlier and longer.
Wedding Heel Heights
Depending on what you are looking for, here is a guide to helping you understand what is out there and helping you find the right shoes.
Low heel wedding shoes
There are many types of low heel wedding shoes. From flat bridal sandals to ballet slippers, you will find a large variety of choices out there. If you want to be very comfortable, you can also consider wedding flip flops. These days, there are wedding flip flops made especially for the bride with the words bride written on them or little rhinestones decorating the straps. There are a large variety of flats and styles including loafers, t-strap flats, Mary Jane’s, slippers and pumps. Think about your own personal preference and look at the style of your dress before selecting which flats you purchase.
Medium heel bridal shoes
Medium heel bridal shoes are one and a half inches to two and a half inches high. For heels, this is the most comfortable height a woman can look for since it adds an extra two inches, but is also not so high that it puts too much pressure on the feet. Surprisingly, the selection of two inch heels isn’t that broad and is actually hard to find. There are a lot of pumps in this height and there are also some bridal sandals. Two types of shoes to consider in this height range are low wedges and mules with a kitten heel. Both are pretty comfortable. The wedge gives a good heel for balance while the mule easily slides on and has a small heel that definitely won’t wobble as easily

High heel bridal shoes
The final option of wedding heels are high heel bridal shoes. These are shoes that are three inches or higher. Some women opt for shoes that are four to four and a half inches. There are plenty of options in these shoes including stilettos, wedges, t-straps, pumps, strappy heels, and platforms. If you decide on these shoes, definitely make sure you are comfortable walking around in them and dancing in them. The high heel requires women who have good balance and are used to walking around in heels of this height. Also, your feet will hurt after awhile so be prepared. Either buy a platform shoe so that the heel height feels lower or buy flip flops or wedges to change into. Don’t forget, if you buy something to change into, make sure it is a similar heel height to your wedding shoes so your wedding dress does not drag on the ground.
Wedding heels should be one of the first things a bride thinks about since she has to wear them all day.

I never even thought about the shoes first when I decided to marry. I bought the dress and then found the perfect shoes to go with it. Anyway, good advice for those about to say their "I dos".
