Wedding photography can be a very expensive thing. Most wedding packages are approximately $1000-$2000 for 4-6 hours of photography. Many places also specify how many different locations they will photograph at. If you want to add extra locations other than where you hold the ceremony and the reception, they usually throw an extra fee at you.

A big part of the cost for wedding photographers is the development of the pictures, which also has a limited number as well. Most venues I have looked at will develop 200 photos from your wedding day for the quoted price they gave you. If you want extra pictures developed, you of course have to pay an extra fee. A good way to cut down the costs of the photographer you could ask to hire them but not have them develop your pictures and they can give you the negatives or the digital files of your pictures and you can develop them elsewhere. If you end up doing this make sure you get the photographer to sign a release form for ownership of the photographs.

If you decide to get the pictures developed somewhere else or even develop them at home from your computer printer which is very common these days, it will cut your cost down by about half. To hire a photographer but not have pictures developed it costs approximately $500-$700. You can find many photographers that give you this option by searching online.

Getting the digital files of your wedding pictures is also a great option because if there is anything in the pictures you would like to fix such as red eye, you can do it quite easily. You can also choose exactly what pictures you want developed and take your time developing them in cases where you may not have that extra money to pay for the pictures right away.

The last option to saving money for your wedding photography is to get a family member or a friend to capture your moments. With all of the new technology and digital cameras out there today almost anyone can take perfect pictures. And also, like I said before, you can work on any touch ups yourself. Getting someone you know to take the pictures cuts down the cost significantly since now you don't have to pay the $700 fee for the photographer's time. You still have to pay for the development of the pictures but the most that would usually cost you would be $200.
