How To Plan a Wedding

For a traditional wedding, one can expect to encounter a minimum of problems in regard to identification of the vital planning elements. Much has been written about the essential elements in the wedding planning process. In fact, certain elements, such as wedding invitations and wedding favors enter into the planning process for both traditional and unconventional weddings.

Still, when a couple does not plan to have a traditional church wedding, certain elements of the wedding planning process can be eliminated This article will provide details on four times when wedding plans can call for elimination of a normally-required element of either the ceremony or reception.

A wedding planner often provides a future bride with a list of suggested wedding music. If the bride follows the teachings of the Muslim religion, she does not need or want such a list. Music has no place in a Muslim wedding ceremony. The chanting of one or more prayers is, however, welcome at such a ceremony.

A wedding planner makes decisions about the reception, in addition to decisions about the wedding ceremony. If the wedding planner must advise a woman whose parents are Hindu or Buddhist, the planner will not want to arrange for the serving of a meat dish at the reception. Both Hindus and Buddhists are vegetarians.

Sometimes a bride can call for minor changes in a traditional service. Such changes might require the assistance of a clergyman. Some brides want to have special vows spoken at the ceremony. Other brides need to accommodate the desires of their father.

There have been times when a father has not wanted to stand before a crowd and voice his approval of the marriage. He has agreed to the marriage, but he does not agree with any “rule” that puts him in position to speak out at the wedding. In that case, the ceremony needs to by-pass the usual statement from the bride’s father

A final alteration in the wedding ceremony can involve the location of that ceremony. Perhaps the bride wants to have a small home wedding. In that case, the wedding planner would not need to reserve a large reception hall.

Perhaps the bride wants to have an outdoor wedding. In that case the reception site should be somewhere close to the site of the ceremony. Some wedding planners are familiar with ranches, locations that can satisfy a combination of needs. Such ranches typically have both a lovely setting for a wedding and, in addition, adequate banquet facilities. These types of themed weddings allow for easy creation of ideas such as themed wedding favors and supplies to fit the theme and complete the decorating.
