When you finally decide to plan a wedding it might sound like it is going to be really expensive. It can be, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't have to be. Some of the best weddings ever were simply because whoever was planning it did so correctly and on a budget that they used. If you use a budget, you can find good ideas everywhere you look for how to do it a lot cheaper than you might have thought at first. Saving money is great, and it can even be better when it helps you have more money at the beginning of your marriage, or to spend on your honeymoon where the money will stretch a lot longer because it's only being used for two people and not the large amount that will be at your wedding. 

To start with, when you hire a professional it is going to cost a lot right there, not that you shouldn't but if you know someone, most likely family that has free time and an eye for beauty and fashion, why not ask them. 

They might enjoy it even if they never did it before. This works great if your wedding is far away, like a year, because they can gain all that knowledge during that time and it will give them a sense or purpose and they will be learning new skills. That doesn't mean that when you make them the planner they decide everything, it just means they keep it organized and have a list that they can go back to, just to make sure that everything is planned for and done. You can work closely with them and make all the final decisions.
