Weed is an addiction.
50You start off by letting your friends tell you that you can't get addicted to weed. So you just make a forced habit of smoking when they are around. Things start getting tough and you are going through some things so you do what your friends do make a calming habit of smoking. Then What do you know your problems become more and more and now you are smoking more and more making this a regular habit. Welcome to addiction. Addiction is an illegal/legal habit.
Most People whom I spoke with started smoking weed between the ages of 9 on up . Most unbelievably 9 years old. Which means a number of many things. Most important that these children believe they will not be addicted to this. I have even seen with my own eyes over 20 young adults smoking weed in front of their children or others children with no disregard for that child.
I have a question that may be you could answer. Do you think that its more influance or poor parenting that leads such young children to this?

weed can be additive, but it's not like cigarettes, where once you start, you cant stop, and the hole peer pressure deal is not true, people don't say, "If you wanna be cool, smoke weed"...people don't say that any more, they say, "wanna smoke weed?" and if they say yes, then they go and smoke, and if they say no, people say, "ok, it's my choice to smoke and your to not"

I definately think that smoking weed is predominately started off because of peer pressure. Some children and teenagers smoke weed a few times because of peer pressure and realize that it is not the way to go because they have been taught by their parents that it is wrong and harmful. However, the children and teens that continue to smoke weed do it because there is something missing in their life, maybe good parental guiding. Also as you mentioned in your article, people continue to smoke because they feel like it helps them cope with problems, and i think that if those kids had trustworthy people to talk to about their problems they would be less likely to pick up bad habits to "help" cope with their problems.
