Weighing in on Weight
71Not a Fat Lot
Life is short but we can make it even shorter still if we ignore the warning signs concerning our health. Nothing is more important than staying healthy considering that if there's no health, everything else crumbles. It's like the foundation on which a house is built. Remember the story of The Three Little Pigs? It was the hog that built his house with bricks that survived the onslaught of the tempestuous wolf. Imagine that our house is our body and life has many storms to send our way. How much more should we be prepared to stand up to any weather? If you go people-watching, you will notice that many individuals are so busy looking after everything else but themselves. A guy walks down the street looking like he's on the verge of delivering twins, but he's more concerned about shopping at a convenient store to stock up on the same foods that distended his stomach. He might be so concerned about filling up his gut that he ignores the fact that he's dying fast and furiously. Perhaps when he finally understands that he's on his way to the grave, it might take everything he possesses to remove the mountain out of his tummy. But under normal conditions, it doesn't take a fat lot to maintain good health.
A physically active lifestyle is definitely on the plus side, though not in terms of size. One doesn't have to indulge in mammoth tasks to keep up with the Joneses. In other words, you don't have to train like an Olympian if that's not your thing to go all out. However, if you wait until things go bad before you give it a try, you might need to dig deeper than even a world record holder in his pet event, to get yourself up and running healthily again. It's like a motor engine that needs oil momentarily. If you wait until the red light signaling the danger appears on your dashboard, it's useless pouring in a tin or two of lubricants - you now need a brand new engine. A stitch in time certainly saves nine. Hence, a sound word of advice is, stop shortchanging your body and start giving some time to treating yourself. For those who look in the mirror and notice that your tummy is still normal, meaning your navel hasn't yet sunk in a valley, you should set up a schedule to get physical, doing the basics. For others who observe the opposite, you might have to tailor your activities with the guidance of a fitness trainer to get yourselves out of the hole in which you have plummeted while gazing. For, your situation is now akin to the engine troubles experienced in the above analogy. If it were only just a regular tune-up job, you might have been able to engage a do-it-yourself kit, or head for the nearest gas station to get everything in order, with a good degree of success. However, if the red light had registered its trademark attention on your dashboard, you need to proceed with caution. A word of advice becomes germane to help you to seek competence when it comes to inspecting your engine. And that's when and how the expert makes his money.
Fitness exercises are variable and can be selected from a vast array of activities. The most common ones are push-ups, pull-ups, jumping jacks, stretching, skipping (using a jump-rope), aerobics, jogging, speed running, weight-training, crunches and other floor workouts. Some people allow themselves to be misled by commercials that invite them to take a pill to lose weight without losing sweat. But like with every drug ingested in one's system, there is always a danger in the side effects that often serve to exacerbate the problem. It's tantamount to other commercials that claim intellectual aspirants can earn their degrees without setting foot in a classroom. Only to find out that the malpractice in different professions skyrockets when society relies on this method of scholastic evaluation. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. There's no shortcut around getting what is good, since no pain, no gain.
You can customize your fitness program to suit your style since it's a matter of what works best for you. If time is of the essence, you can arrange to put in small periods pertaining to your workout program. There is also a method whereby you can carry exercise paraphernalia in your car. This, so that in your break from work, you can put in even five minutes of activity in a convenient area somewhere or in a spot of your choice. Skipping doesn't take up much space and can even be done while talking to someone sometimes. It's a good way of breaking a sweat to get rid of some of the toxicity that undermines your health. So there you go, sweating is very good in getting grimes out of your system, contrary to the thrust of some quick-fix TV commercials. Those who live in areas where they have to stay indoors during the winter are at a disadvantage when considering outdoor amplitude. However, if a woman without hands raised three kids, drove cars, cooked and wrote with her feet, then the indoor hurdle shouldn't be too difficult to get over. Tell yourselves that you just can't stay away from physical activities for four to six months. That's too long a lapse to remain inactive, and a lot of things can go wrong during that hiatus. Most people head for a gym during the cold months, but if you can't afford such luxuries, you might need to create a space at home to entertain your fitness program. It's your health and it's worth it!
In one week some people can put on as much as five to ten pounds. But try taking off the same and you spend almost a lifetime with little if any success. Then you start to hear all kinds of stories to say why that is so. Oh, it's your metabolism which slows down as you get older. Yeah, right! Oh, you shouldn't eat then go to sleep immediately thereafter. Give that a break! Oh, you shouldn't eat too late at night. That too! Our forefathers did all of the above and stayed skinny all their lives. You might not want to invest your energies in researching conspiracy theories, but nothing beats awareness. For when you know, then you can determine how you live. Dan visited his favorite supermarket to pick up a different brand of toothpaste, since the one he was using was stripping the lining of his mouth, causing dry mouth in its wake. While he was scouring the shelves, he discovered a product for dry mouth sitting right next to the brand of toothpaste that was wreaking havoc with his health. On closer examination, the harmful toothpaste and the dry mouth product were manufactured by the same company. That sight provoked the will in Dan to do some investigation. Going online, he encountered a forum where respondents spoke about their experiences with the brand of toothpaste in question. According to one such spokesperson, someone more influential had taken the company to task, using a survey to question why a specific ingredient was used in the manufacturing of the toothpaste. That ingredient was in fact the destroyer creating the dry mouth condition for many purchasers, while its purpose was universally known to be like disposable temporary files on a computer.
The foregone example is a verification code to give you the kind of attitude to have when dealing with products meant for everyday consumption. Let's look at meats for example. It's no secret that most meats on the market have been laced with chemicals. Carnivores are therefore in danger of inheriting the effects when consuming the products. And one such consequence is obesity. Many people claim they like meat too much to forego it in their diet. Nutritionists have also acquiesced that it is an integral source of protein. Hence, let's just say you can't delete it totally from your intake. Well then, you might need to moderate how much you eat and when. How about alternate days, weeks or even months with and without meats? You see, it's like this. You have salt and sugar, two tasty ingredients in cooking. You can either take a pinch every now and again without having to worry about hypertension and diabetes, all things considered. Or, you eat them like a glutton and then, somewhere along the way, face being told by your general practitioner to stay away from them for good. Unless you can afford organic foods or you are in a position to rear your own poultry and the like. When next you buy chicken, for instance, try removing the skin and see how much yellow, fatty substance you see in place. The meat itself is like paper in a papier-mâché. If these things go in your system on a daily basis, how much more do you think you need to find a method of ensuring that they get back out to maintain a clean bill of health?
