Obesity can cause many health problems. People who are obese do not live as long as people that are not obese and in good shape. The earlier a person becomes obese, the more years of life are lost. People that are obese tend to be at a higher risk for cancer then those that are at a healthy weight. A person that is obese is six times more likely to develop heart disease than those of a healthy weight. High blood pressure is also found in people that are not at a healthy weight. High blood pressure or hypertension causes many health issues. These are just a few of the adverse effects that obesity causes. Just knowing these problems that are caused by obesity should be motivation enough to start loosing weight and start living a active healthy life style.

What are the benefits of weight loss?

A person that is at a healthy weight is less likely to develop cancer, type one and two diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Exercising alone has many great benefits. When you exercise your body releases endorphins. This is a natural chemical that lifts mood and makes you feel euphoric. This release of endorphins is also known as a “runners high.” Exercise is especially important to people with depression or anxiety. A study was done to compare the effects of the anti-depressant drug Zoloft to exercise. During a six month period the group that only exercised showed about the same results as the group that took Zoloft. At the 12 month mark exercise actually beat Zoloft. I found it amazing how much your body and mind can benefit from a proper diet and exercise.
