Weight Loss Tips That Work

I'm not a personal trainer or some guy who weighed 500lbs and now weighs 10lbs, I’m just a normal guy who likes sports and knows what it takes to stay in shape. I figured I’d let everyone in on a few things that I find important in my quest to stay in shape.

1 – Set realistic goals - You're not going to lose 10lbs a week. You're probably not even going to be able to lose weight every week. Personally I think a good goal is that you drop at least 1lb 3 out of every 4 weeks in a month. That would lead to a loss of 24lbs in a year, which in my non-professional opinion is pretty good.

2 – Don’t rob yourself of all life’s pleasures – You don’t need to never eat anything tasty to lose weight. Let yourself have desert, just take 1 scoop of ice cream instead of 10.

3 – Work out with a group – The biggest problem people have with working out isn’t starting, it’s keeping going. Peer pressure can be a wonderful thing when it comes to exercise. So join a group, and bring a friend. If they don’t want to go on a particular night guilt them into it, and have them do the same to you.

4 – Work a little each day – You don’t need to run a marathon every day but you should do a little activity even if it’s walking 15 minutes or weeding your garden. Running (or walking) 15 minutes everyday is a lot easier than running for 1hr 45min once a week.

I know from going to gym classes that people work much harder when surrounded by other people. You certainly don't want to be the first person to colapse in a heap on the floor!

I couldn't agree more, it's all about persistence. You have to know exactly what you want to achieve and what you realistically can achieve, and just keep it in your mind every single day so that you make a little progress every time you get out of bed in the morning.
